There’s thrilling news this morning that a photo of part of the Harry Clarke stained glass window (Adoration of the Magi) in St.Patrick’s Church Millstreet has been selected by An Post as one of three specially commissioned stamps for this Christmas. So a little bit of Millstreet will be seen all over the world this Christmas on letters and packages.
We featured the stained glass previously when it appeared on Fr.James McSweeney’s website 2u.ie. The photographer Bill Power is from Mitchelstown has an interest in Harry Clarke’s stained glass, has outlined in a nice piece how it all came about:

No fake-bearded imposters at The Secret Garden! Again, there’s no charge, complimentary mulled wine and a general festive and feel-good evening with more fairy lights than you can shake a stick at.
We shall also have a Christmas Market (undercover) so a chance to buy local crafts including handmade soap, candles and jewellery.
It’s all on Wednesday 7th December 5-9pm at the Secret Garden [read more …] “Santa & Christmas Market at The Secret Garden”
Despite the roads being treacherous because of rain freezing when it hit the ground, there was a good crowd who were all in good spirits. The ground was hard and icy, but the heather was good for getting grip. Thankfully it stopped raining for most of the walk, except for the last few minutes on the way down, and the wind was not as strong as it has been in the past, but the mountain was shrouded in cloud while we were up there. At the top, and on behalf of the Baby Jacob Trust Fund Jerry Pat O’Leary thanked everyone for their efforts in the difficult weather.
Wishing everyone a very happy and a peaceful Christmas.
