Eily’s Report – 24th February

Dia is mhuire díobh go léir a cáirde and welcome to my Report.

The temperatures are rising and as rising tides raises all craft, so are our spirits and hopes and prayers for an improvement in the weather. The birds are also responding to the change, they are really busy now, feverishly seeking places to build their nests and get on with the work of Mother Nature. Apart from that our community can’t wait to get their work up and running and there’s lots to do. With the onset of March the Community Council are preparing hard for our St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Meanwhile at our Community School we are about to witness their first ever ”Quid Games”. That is the name given to an ambitious fundraiser which involves a wide range of volunteers working hard to raise funds for our first ever full sized football pitch, to be opened at the Community School Grounds in Coomlogane. Next Saturday night will see the culmination of many months of fundraising at a Gala event which will be held at the Great Southern Hotel in Killarney.   Tickets  at €20 each and full information are available at the Community School office at 029 70087.  I know very little about this new venture but I’m told that one lucky winner will walk away with a €10 000 prize money on the night. Please give this exciting venture your best support.
