Eily’s Report 16th September

Dia is Mhuire díobh go léir a cáirde and welcome to my Report.

I met a very sad lady coming out from Mass this (Monday) morning. She told me that Fr. John informed her that the local television coverage of our Church services have been cancelled. It’s been done by Vodafone and 02, because they say it interferes with their signal. This is a terrible thing to happen because this service covers out local hospital, the Day centre and countless homes around the parish which are in view if the signal high above our church. I know that people all over the world can get our church  services  on our wonderful streaming services and that is not affected by this. The local TV service which we’ve had for  the past twenty years was invaluable. Elderly people had  all their church brought into their homes crystal clear. Both verbally and audibly.  In the past  I’d visit my brother Jack and his wife Maureen after mass sometimes a funeral and they’d have a much clearer account of the Mass than me.  The sermons and family tributes for a loved one, which I wouldn’t be able to hear properly in church, they would have it all in detail in the comfort of their own home. I hope that something can be done to overcome this terrible occurrence in our parish. Can Vodaphone and 02 give us an alternative way of recovering this service which means so much to our housebound people. Can somebody talk to somebody on our behalf. If so please do. We remain hopeful.
