Millstreet Library – Bealtaine Arts And Crafts Workshop 2025

Today at Millstreet Library, we welcomed a wonderful group for a hand-painted tote bag workshop led by artist Amanda Wright.  This creative session was part of the Bealtaine Festival 2025, a celebration of arts and creativity as we age.

Job Vacancy – Health & Fitness/Gym Manager

 Role: Health & Fitness/Gym Manager
Organisation: Millstreet Community Council on behalf of Millstreet Community Gym
Location: Millstreet Community Gym, West End, Millstreet, Co. Cork, P51 WC62
Contract: 4-month fixed term contract – Full-time (39hrs per week – hours & day of work TBC)

We are looking for a person who is passionate about health and wellness and dedicated to helping others achieve their goals. This is a 4 month fixed term contract in our existing gym to cover a transition period from our existing gym to our new gym which is due to open its doors in September 2025.

We are actively seeking someone to take on the lease of our new gym in Millstreet so there are great future opportunities in this role.

Job Description:
• Deliver a high level of customer service experience, to identify the client’s health & fitness needs and goals, and to work with them to achieve this in a warm and friendly environment.

• Provide tailored fitness plans that are unique to each client’s needs & advise on nutrition.

• Carry out administration tasks required for the smooth running of a busy gym.

You will be required to:

• Work closely with clients to implement their programs – with a strong emphasis on customer
service.
• Create individualised training programs; perform fitness assessments and evaluations.
• Carry out administrative tasks as part of the normal working day to ensure a smooth running
of the business.
• To assist in the marketing and publicity of all activities and events.
• Ensure that the gym is always presented to a high standard, is clean, tidy and uncluttered.
• To ensure sufficient staff are available for the safe, high-quality functioning of the gym
• Always behave to the highest ethical standards in dealing with colleagues and clients.
• To undertake any regulatory requirements.
• Take on any other duties that are assigned to you and for which you have been provided with reasonable knowledge and training in respect of such tasks.

Knowledge & Skills
• A current qualification in personal training and/or gym instruction (NCEHS – NCEF – ITEC) or equivalent.
• An interest in people and working with them.
• The ability to perform under pressure and to multitask.
• Works well on their own and as part of a team.
• Responds well to pressure and change.
• Strong communication skills.
• A willingness to learn.
Salary and conditions of employment:
• Salary will be competitive and negotiable depending on experience and qualifications.
