“Radio Treasures” Tonight Features Mallow & Charleville

On this Tuesday – 30th April 2024 … preceded by “Jimmy Reidy & Friends” with a wonderful programme (no. 93) from the  splendid Archival Series where the focus is on The Ferrymen Band  at 8pm (the repeat of which one may hear on Sunday night at 10pm) we invite you to also tune into “Radio Treasures” this Tuesday from 9.15 to 11.30pm on Cork Music Station.  Please note that our CMS Website is presently not in operation so the best way to listen to CMS at the moment is by the “Radio Garden” App, by the “Tune In” App or by Alexa.   At 9.30pm we introduce our new series on Charleville.   At 10pm we share our feature on the Centenary of the Thomas Davis Pipe Band from Mallow.  Lots more of our regular items also.   Feel very welcome to contact the live programme by emailing corkmusicstation @gmail.com or texting 086 825 0074 – One may also WhatsApp that number.   Tap on the images below to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Carmel Ann O’Sullivan (née McSweeney), Hillview, Drishane More

The death has occurred of Carmel Ann O’Sullivan (née McSweeney,), Hillview, Drishane More, Millstreet, Cork, P51 A6C9

In loving memory of Carmel Ann O’Sullivan, (née McSweeney, Ardnageeha), Hillview, Drishane More, Millstreet, Co. Cork, after a very long, hard fought battle. She passed peacefully on April 30th, 2024, in her home, surrounded by her family, in the compassionate care of the staff of Marymount Hospice.

Deeply regretted by her loving husband Pat, her son Jason and her daughter Caroline, her brothers and sisters, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, her grandchildren Cian, Kai, Isabelle, Finn, Michael and Tahlia, her son-in-law and daughter-in-law, her nieces and nephews, her relatives, neighbours and friends.

May she rest in peace.

Reposing at her residence at Drishane More, (P51 A6C9), on Wednesday, 1st of May, from 5pm to 7pm. Reception into St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet on Thursday for Requiem Mass at 11am, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Millstreet.

Eily’s Report – 30th April

Dia is Mhuire dióbh go léir a cairde and welcome to my Report.

It’s not often we get good news but to hear that our town is being given the princely sum of €117,000 for local improvements on a Monday morning, it is enough to brighten up anyone’s day. Well done to those who succeeded in netting this welcome shot in the arm for Millstreet and as time moves on we look forward to see the changes that it will make.

First Holy Communions are the order of the day at the moment . The children from Cloghoula National School received their Communion in Ballydaly Church last week and this Saturday  May 4th it’s the turn of the children of Cullen who will have their ceremony in their own local Church. Following that on May 11 May it’s the turn of the little girls of the  Presentation National School and the boys of Scoil Mhuire  in Millstreet. In the build-up to their special days the children and their parents took an active part in what is called ‘Grow in Love,’ at the 11.30 masses in recent times and we wish them God’s Blessing at this important time in their lives and pray that the blessings which they will receive through the Sacraments of Penance and the Blessed Eucharist will stand to them in whatever road life takes them  in their future years.
