Joan O’Brien (née Hickey), 26 Main Street, Newmarket

The death has occurred of Joan O’Brien (née Hickey), 26 Main Street, Newmarket, Co. Cork.

O’Brien: Newmarket, on November 26th, 2022 (peacefully) at home, Joan (née Hickey), 26 Main Street, beloved wife of the late Billy and dear mother of Pat, Síle (Daly), Mary and Anne (Gaffney). Pre-deceased by her brother Jack and nephews Jim and Neal. Deeply mourned by her loving family, brothers Benny (California) and Dan (Kiskeam), sisters Margaret (Millstreet) and Bridget (New York), grandchildren Mae, Joan and Bill, sons-in-law Michael and Denis, daughter-in-law Anastasia, sisters-in-law Betty and Mary Anne, nephews, nieces, relatives, devoted neighbours and friends.

May she rest in peace.

Reposing at O’Reilly’s Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6pm to 8pm followed by removal to St. Mary’s Church. Joan’s Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 12 noon and will be live-streamed on the Newmarket and Taur Parish Facebook page. Funeral afterwards to Clonfert Cemetery.

Family flowers only please; donations, in lieu, to St. Vincent de Paul.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Doctors Zelie and Bertie Daly, Newmarket, Doctor Conor O’Shea and Professor Diarmaid Houlihan, Bon Secours and the home care and public health nurses who attended our mother during her illness.

The death has occurred of Phyllis Buckley (née Cahill) Curraraigue, Rathcoole, Mallow, Cork

 

Passed away, peacefully, at home. Beloved wife of the late Willie. Much loved and dearly missed by her sons Pat and Bill, daughters Bernie McSweeney (Donoughmore), Kathleen Regan (Killarney), Angela Barrett (Tralee), her grandaughter Phyllis, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, sister Carmel Ryan (Clonmel), brothers Tadgh, Stephen and Rev Fr Donal, (Lisheen, Skibbereen) and the late Frank, Dermot, Richard and Mike. 17 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and many friends and neighbours.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Dr Brian O’Connell and her wonderful home help.

Lying in repose in St John’s Church, Dromagh, on Sunday evening from 6 to 7.30pm. Requiem Mass on Monday at 2pm, followed by burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Millstreet. Condolences for the family can be left on this link.
