Unusual Bird Visits Eily’s Home!

In March 2019 Daniel and Majella O’Donnell visited the very welcoming home of Eily Buckley.  In  March 2021 (Sat. 6th) it was this beautiful rare bird that paid a visit to Eily’s Garden!   Clearly seeking Select Accommodation!  Tap on the image to enlarge.  (S.R.)  Update:  Lots of suggestions coming in – including one from Caroline Lehane who suggests that the bird could well be a Peregrine Falcon….Another suggestion received – a Sparrow Hawk.

“Where the Road Takes Me” at 7pm this Sunday on C103

We thank Presenter, John Greene for advance information on this Sunday evening’s programme – 7th March 2021 at 7pm on C103.  (S.R.)

Where The Road Takes Me

In 1921 the IRA Hierarchy made an order that women who were found guilty of spying or collaborating with the enemy, were to be banished from their homeplace.

However, some local Commanders rewrote those rules and executed at least three women who had crossed the line as they saw it.

On this week’s edition of ‘Where the road takes me’, John Greene delves into the story of Beara woman Bridget Noble who was kidnapped by the IRA, held hostage for over a week and executed.  Her remains were never located.

We hear from author Seán Boyne who has written extensively about it and we also joined by musician and composer Skully, who wrote two pieces of music in memory of Bridget Noble.

We hear a recording of his Great Grand-Aunt Eva O’Sullivan, who, at only twelve years of age, was a member of Cumann na mBan at the time.  [read more …] ““Where the Road Takes Me” at 7pm this Sunday on C103″
