Tonight…on this Tuesday, 22nd Sept. 2020… on “Radio Treasures” broadcast on Cork Music Station 9:30 to 11:00pm we feature our regular items with a splendid blend of uplifting songs and music… tonight we feature a selection of songs and music relating to a Tour of Ireland as well as a variety of interesting musings and words of wisdom.  Included in tonight’s programme:

  2. We also visit the First Night of “The Pub” reopening at Carriganima.

Millstreet Community Singers at Tubrid Holy Well

To celebrate the recent Culture Night 2020 – the very talented Millstreet Community Singers presented a superb performance of “Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory” in the exquisite setting of Tubrid Holy Well.   Special thanks to Coordinator Marie Twomey, James O’Sullivan whose very kind assistance providing power at Tubrid was greatly appreciated and I was privileged to record the wonderful occasion on a recent day blessed with glorious weather.  Enjoy the brief recording which was marvellously edited by the CETB Team.  We shall be referring to this and the overall Culture Night on “Radio Treasures” tonight (22nd Sept. 2020) on Cork Music Station. Family of Niall Buckley Expresses Sincere Thanks

We would like to thank the Dromtariffe, Millstreet and Cullen communities for rallying around us for the last few weeks. 
On Monday morning 3rd August, people streamed into our house and stayed with us for those 4 difficult days. Preparing our house, bringing food and drink, setting up tables and chairs, directing traffic and most importantly of all, sitting for a chat.
We are blown away by the kindness of everyone. We are truly blessed to live in such a wonderful community. From Dromtariffe Hall to Rathcoole Rovers and Dromtariffe GAA who walked with us as we left Derrinagree Church on Niall’s final Journey. The road was lined from Derrinagree to Millstreet with our wonderful neighbours, friends and relatives, who carried us through that heart-breaking journey. We would like to thank every one of you for taking part in that lovely tribute. We really appreciate all your hard work, thoughtfulness and kindness.
For those of you who couldn’t make it, but sent flowers, a Mass card or lovely letter, your kind words mean so much.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

Eily’s Report – 22nd September

Dia is Mhuire díobh go léir a chairde, and welcome to my report.

The Autumn sun shone bright and warm on Saturday for the First Holy Communion of 14 boys and 17 girls from the town schools. Like so many other things it was a ceremony with a difference which allowed parents only to accompany  them to the church. The little boys went first at 10 am and the little girls at 12.30. It was indeed a strange sight, so different from the large number of parents, siblings, grandparents, great grand parents and cousins who filled up the church in the rear in former years. But on returning home, to the wide open spaces, where social distancing wasn’t a problem, lots of pictures taken and they were able to enjoy a wonderful celebration, the memory of which will remain with them forever. Family photos were taken to record the great occasion and the story of their 2020 Holy Communion Day will be recalled in many the year to come, every time they look at them again. We wish them God’s Blessing for the future and say heartfelt thanks to Canon John, the teachers and all those who helped in any way to bring this very difficult situation to such meaningful and happy conclusion. Míle Buíochas
