The death has occurred of Eugene (Eoin) Keller
Lyre, Cork / Newmarket, Cork

Keller: Lyre, Banteer and Castle Court, Newmarket. On April 28, 2020 at Lyre, Eugene (Owen). Sadly missed by his wife Catherine, family Eugene, Fintan, Fiona, Susan, Christopher, Stephanie, Stephen and Shane, grandchildren, brothers, sister, daughter-in-law, niece, relatives and friends. May he Rest in Peace.

Early plans for County Cork Windfarm Revealed

Coillte and Brookfield Renewables are now attempting to categorise the Balinagree / Mushera windfarm as a Strategic Infrastructural Development, thus avoiding the need for a normal planning application, and speeding up the development, and most likely putting residents concerns in the background.  Read more about this development in the Evening Echo.

John Manley’s Funeral Took Place in London Today

With the present COVID-19 Coronavirus restrictions in place the special Funeral Service for the late John Manley was conducted today (Wed. 29th April 2020) at 4pm in London in the presence of Family members and one gentleman who represented all the many Friends who would have wished to have been there.   The Service was live streamed online with the Priest celebrating the life of John in a hugely impressive manner.   John’s son-in-law Mark – the husband of the late Michelle Bates – shared a wonderfully expressed and very moving tribute.   Two of John’s favourite songs – Seán Ó Sé’s “The Banks of My Own Lovely Lee“ and “The Green, Green Grass of Home” sung by Tom Jones – ended the beautiful ceremony.   The celebration of Mass had already taken place in John & Esther’s local Church this Wednesday morning in London.   John would have been greatly impressed by the very meaningful and inspiring Service.  We extend our heartfelt sympathy to all the Family.   We thank Clara Manley for sharing the live streaming video link enabling us to participate from afar in the ceremony.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.  Tap on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.)

This May – a Message from Bishop Ray

This May turn to Our Lady, Queen of Peace for strength and peace. With Covid-19 many people will find this May upsetting and distressing. Prayer to Our Lady each day can be a source of calm, hope and resilience. She will bring your prayer to the ear of the Lord Jesus.

Our glad voices telling
The praise of the loveliest flower of the vale.
O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today,
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.

When Our Lady appeared in Knock in August 1879 poverty and disease was common in Ireland. In the years since, Knock has been a place of comfort and hope for Irish people in need. Lourdes also, has been a special place of peace and hope for the sick. The sick, the bereaved and the troubled have consistently turned to Our Lady.

The Gospel speaks of ‘a sword piercing the soul of Mary’. Think of the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt. Think of Mary who stood by the cross as her Son was dying.

With Covid-19, the month of May will not be an easy month. Many people are beginning to feel trapped and frustrated. In their hearts they know that change can only come carefully and gradually.
