Death Notice: Virginia Linehan, Dromahoe

The death has occurred of Virginia (Vir) Linehan (née O Sullivan), Dromahoe, Dromagh, Cork. On August 6th 2019, passed away peacefully at the Mercy Hospital after a short illness surrounded by her loving family, Vir, beloved wife of the late Pat and sister of the late Francis and Alfred, dear mother of Mary (Doody), Gail (Lowe), John, P.J and Irene (Duggan), sons-in-law Declan, Georgie and John, daughters-in-law, Angela and Linda, her adored 10 grandchildren and great-granddaughter Sophia, dear sister of Irene (O’Gara), Brenda (O’Sullivan), Marie (Dunlea), Theresa (Sr Coleman). Deeply regretted by her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Lying in Repose at Tarrant’s Funeral Home, Millstreet (P51 XF86) on Thursday from 6pm to 8pm. Reception into St. John’s Church, Dromagh (P51 W983) on Friday for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Millstreet. HOUSE STRICTLY PRIVATE PLEASE. [rip]

Sliabh Luachra Cycling Club Notes

The Fermoy Cycling Club Hennessy League finished on Tuesday night last, with SLCC riders faring well in the overall league standings. Well done to Fermoy cycling club who ran the 10 week league – no mean feat.

The trip to Errigal, Co Donegal was undertaken last weekend with 8 SLCC juveniles taking part in the International four stage race over the bank holiday weekend. With entrants from Scotland, Isle of Man, England Belgium and all over Ireland this is the most competitive under age racing in the Irish Calendar. The 4 stages consisted of two road stages, a Time Trial and a Criterium. Well done to all our competitors who completed the weekend – under 12 Nicholas Buckley, Keenan Dennehy, Kate Murphy (Overall General Classification 3rd ) Under 14 Amy Fleming, Dinny Murphy, Aidan Morley and Darragh Dennehy and Under 16 Ben Murphy (photos below).

The final round of the Kerry County League is underway Thursday next in Tralee. This is quickly followed by the Irish Nationals in mid-August due to be held in Multyfarnham, Mullingar so a busy few weeks ahead.

Training for both Juveniles and Adults continues this week.

Death Notice: Nora Hickey, Ballinlough, and formerly of Main Street, Millstreet

Hickey (Ballinlough and formerly of Main Street, Millstreet), On August 5th 2019, peacefully in the presence of her loving family and in the tender loving care of the staff of Beaumont Residential Care, Nora, beloved sister of Mary (Lehane) (Millstreet) and the late Eileen and Joan. Sadly missed by her loving sister, brother-in-law John, nephews, nieces, Máire, Reidín, Noirín, Eleanor, David, Mairead, Seamus and Maria, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephew, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
