Thanks to everyone who supported the fundraising efforts of 5th year students from Millstreet Community School – Caoimhe O’Leary, Emma Brady, Michelle O’Riordan and Sarah Bourke.  They will be travelling with the Irish Pilgrimage Trust as helpers for a week-long pilgrimage during their Easter holidays.  As a result of your support they have been able to cover the travel/accommodation costs for their trip (€670/person).  Thank you!

Eily’s Report – 19th March

Dia is Mhuire díobh go léir a chairde, and welcome to my report.

Whichever way you look at it we had a wonderful St. Patrick’s weekend here in Millstreet. It had something for everyone and the weather was good.

Saturday a convoy of double decker buses, went through our town ferrying over 5000 revelers to the annual Tech Works Festival at the Green Glens Arena.

On Saturday night our Comhaltas Ceoltóirí group played in the Church at the 6.30 Mass. Then on St. Patrick’s Day our wonderful Pipe band played at the church grounds as people were going in to the 11.30 Mass which was conselebrated by three local men, Fr. Paddy O Byrne, Fr. Billy Radley and Fr. Sean Tucker.  Then the band played while entering the church and took part in many parts of the mass. The Church Choir attended and their combined grand finale literally lifted the roof, when they joined our lovely organist Jane to play a rousing recital of Highland Cathedral. No words of mine could do justice to the joy it brought to all in the church on St. Patrick’s Day. Spellbound, is the best way to describe it.
