Maria Presents Cheque to the Irish Cancer Society

Having represented Dublin in the Final of Miss Ireland 2018 Maria created awareness for the Irish Cancer Society by running the Dublin Mini Marathon. After completing her Masters in UCC she joined Asset Management in Dublin.   Thrilled to be selected as Miss Dublin she prepared to full capacity for the mini marathon:
“Being the current Miss Dublin in this years Miss Ireland was an amazing platform and being a finalist allowed me to be a major advocate of charities special to me.    It gave me the wonderful opportunity to raise necessary funds for Irish Cancer Research .      I am so grateful to all the wonderful people who donated so generously and as a result   €5,623.00 was raised.     A massive Thank You to all who did contribute and for helping me support such a deserving cause.”

Presbytery Roofing Detail

Looking at old Lawrence Collection photos from about 1910, the detail on top of the presbytery (1893) is fascinating. I assume it is a lightening conductor, but the design is so so unusual, does anyone know if there is some significance to the design?
That detail is gone now, but there across the road on the old boy’s national school there is a similar one which is striking to this day. That building was also erected in 1893. Does anyone know if there is some significance in them?
