“Radio Treasures” on CMS Visits 1951 Tonight at 10pm

Our 10pm feature tonight (Tues. 4th Sept. 2018) recalls events from 1951 on “Radio Treasures” on Cork Music Station.  We also hear the superb pipe music as played by Con Houlihan of Cullen Pipe Band (as we extend Kathleen and Damien very Happy Wedding wishes) in Killarney earlier this year.  We reflect on the very successful Carriganima Fun Run of last Saturday.  We chat about our 1910 historic photo of Millstreet (from the late Mary Cronin Collection at Millstreet Museum kindly presented by Breda and Tommy Sheehan of Australia and Millstreet).  We’ve lots of musings and music plus songs from artists like André Rieu, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Ann Shelton, The Seekers, Les Paul & Mary Ford plus Hymns from Medjugorje.  And there’s more…lots more!  Do join us from 9:30 to 11:00pm (Irish Time).  Feel very welcome to contact our live broadcast by emailing us on millstreetmuseum @eircom.net, by texting 086 825 0074 or by joining our chatline on the Seán Radley Facebook Page.  Many have enquired if we have podcasts of our weekly 10pm features so that they could listen to them if the live broadcast was missed.  As yet we do not have such an audio archive but we are hoping to develop this facility in the not-too-distant future as very kind support for this has become available about which we shall give more details later.   For now happy listening to our live broadcast this evening!  Below we share images from the topics included in our programme.  Click on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Eily’s Report – 4th September

Dia is Mhuire díobh go léir a chairde and welcome to my report.

The Month of September is on its way and the diverse effects of this year’s drought are perhaps not too bad after all. Thanks to some sporadic rainfalls the fields have greened up again and even second cuts of the precious winter feed for the cattle are being gathered in. Wild fruits are there in abundance. We are seeing apple trees bending under the weight of their crop and the old reliable blackberries are there for the taking. And I’m still getting one solitary mushroom in my garden every day. Baoichas le Dia.
