Eily’s Report – 10th April

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to my Weekly Report.

I was very pleased to have been part of the very prestigious launch of the Beara Breifni Way Heritage Stamps, which was held at the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon at the weekend. It was attended by over two hundred people  some from the very source of this epic development, Castletownbere itself, and many places in between. Including Michael and Marian O’Sullivan, Eileen O’Riordan and family, agus mé féin representing Millstreet.

The master of ceremonies was the well-known Deirdre Purcell, author and RTE presenter. There was an excellent line-out of speakers during the  day long event, and the final speaker was the Minister for Rural and Community Development Mr. Michael Ring TD who performed the official launch.

The launch marks another step forward in what is now being regarded as the Irish Camino Way. And the Great Jim O’Sullivan from Castletownbere can be thanked for starting its development from humble beginnings almost twenty years ago.  And he was highly commended for his work at the launch. Further information about the placing of the stamps will be given in due course.

A Community Council Meeting will be held tonight starting at 8.30 at the Wallis Arms Hotel.
