Recognition for Tidy Town Groups

Kanturk Mallow Municipal District held a reception in recognition of the achievements of the groups from Millstreet Town and Kiskeam Village. Chair of Kanturk Mallow MD Cllr Timmy Collins noted the dedication of each Tidy Town group, “On behalf of the Members of the Kanturk Mallow Municipal District and staff I would like to express my thanks to all the volunteers in each of our Tidy Towns groups throughout the District. Their dedication and personal sacrifice in making our towns and villages better places to live and work in is inspiring. Tidy Town Groups and their communities add significantly to the quality of what we have in Cork County and their ongoing work is proudly supported by Cork County Council. This Municipal District will continue to support their work through the funding allocated to groups in the Community Funding Schemes, which will be advertised again early in 2018…” – read the full article by Cork Co. Eily’s Report – 5th December

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to my report.

The last of the qualifying rounds of our Millstreet Got Talent Festival was held at the Clara Inn on Saturday night, and the grand final will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel at the end of January.  The Community Council who organised the event are delighted with the interest shown in the venture and with the air of fun and enjoyment that it created in the run-up to Christmas. The members worked very hard make it the great success that it is and they promise that the final at the end of January will be a night not to be missed.

The Community Council would like to remind people that the last day for renewing the Text Alert Scheme for 2018 is December 16th. Please drop into Wordsworth Book Store, sign the form and pay the annual fee of €10 to ensure that you will receive warnings  from the Gardai, of any suspicious happenings in your area during the year ahead.

The Community Council supported the Christmas Lights fund and also gave a donation towards the cost of sending  our young science students to Dublin.

Let me remind you again that for the moment, personal alarms are being installed free to qualifying recipients. The Council members who are in charge are: Dan 087 689 33 78  or Michelle 087 922 74 15.
