Death Notice: Margaret Cullen (née Corcoran, Pound Hill)

The death has occurred of MARGARET CULLEN (née CORCORAN), Kerins Park, Tralee / Poundhill, Millstreet. Predeceased by her husband Charlie, brothers Con and John and brother-in-law David. Deeply regretted by her loving family – her daughter Mary, sons Neilus and Ricky, grandchildren – especially Ashling, brother Willie, sisters Eileen and Colette, son-in-law TJ, daughters-in-law Bridget and Anne, brother-in-law Johnny, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends. May She Rest in Peace

Reposing at Mc Elligott’s Funeral Home, Tralee on Friday evening from 5.00PM to 7.00PM followed by removal at 7.00PM to The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Rathass, Tralee. Requiem Mass will take place on Saturday at 10.00AM at The Church of The Imaaculate Conception, Tralee, Co. Kerry followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery Milstreet, Co. Cork. Success for Daragh Twomey and Crossfields Ceili Band at All Ireland Fleadh in Ennis


Congratulations to Darragh Twomey (second from left in the back row)  Son of John & Maire Twomey who plays with the Crossfields Ceili Band who were winners of the All Ireland Fleadh in Ennis. Well deserved. Best wishes on this great achievement from the Aubane Social Club.

John Kelleher of Aubane Social Club has also indicated that The Monday Night Set Dancing recommences for the 2017/2018 season at Aubane Community Centre on Monday 18th September at 9.15 pm.

Looking for Luceys

Hello all! I am looking for the Lucy(Lucey) family from county Cork. I have a very extensive list of family members documented once they came to the United Stated but little before that. I know many of the records were destroyed and to add to it the family seemed to use the same first names over and over.

Here is the information I do have: The family did live in Or around Millstreet based on two gravestones in Galena, Illinois. My third great grandparents Timothy(maybe Timotheous) born around 1822 married Catherine Monnahan(maybe Moynihan) born around 1830. They immigrated to the United States I believe 1854ish and settled in Galena. They had one son, Michael, born in Ireland. Six other children born in Galena, Illinois/Rice Township. Timothy had the following siblings, all who immigrated as well (guessing early 1850s and maybe late 1840s but that in unlikely due to ages): Dennis born around 1830, Patrick born around 1835, Jeremiah born around 1836, and Honora(Hannora). There may also be a brother John. Based on the eight year gap between Timothy and Dennis there may well be siblings born between the two that did not immigrate.

I would be grateful for any information anyone has about my family from Ireland. There is a trip in my future to visit in a couple of years but want to do my research now.

Wonderful 90th Birthday Celebrations for Lattie Murphy, Claramore

How you can help Millstreet Day-Care Centre.

If yourself or members of your family are spring cleaning please remember our Thrift Shop.  We accept bric-a-brac, children’s clothes, buggies, toys, and curtains etc., any clothes that are in good condition.  All proceeds from the shop go towards the Day-Care Centre.

We also accept clothes not fit for resale e.g. old curtains and blankets, quilt covers, towels etc.  We sell them for recycling to the National Council for the Blind.  Not alone does this create an income for the Council for the Blind but we put the money we get from them into our Social Fund – which helps pay for tutors and volunteers (music, exercise classes, red cross etc).

Old clothes can be handed into the Thrift Shop or the Millstreet Day Care Centre.

Any donations or unwanted china especially (cups and saucers) would be greatly appreciated.

We try to provide as much entertainment as possible during the day – birthday parties, sing-along, exercises, games etc., but funding is always a problem.

Thank you all for your continuing support and please encourage your neighbours or friends to come and join us.
