Where the Road Takes Me – Road Bowling Programme 2 at 7pm Sunday C103

This week’s edition of ‘Where the road takes me’, is the concluding programme which looks at the age old Irish sport of road bowling.

In programme two, author Noel Magnier joins us to continue the story of Mick Barry, one of road bowling’s greatest heroes.

We meet Derry Kenny from the Boothouse bar in White’s Cross. As a twenty three year old in 1963, and suffering from a leg injury, Derry surprised everybody by winning the Munster Senior bowling championship, and went on to contest the very first All Ireland final in road bowling

Chairperson of Bol Cumann Susan Greene speaks about how women have integrated into road bowling, and how the association intends to meet the many challenges facing the sport today.

Declan o’Donovan from Bandon tells us how he and his brother-in-law won senior and junior All Ireland titles together in 1986 on Cathedral road in Armagh.

Christmas Edition of “Clara News” Coordinated by TY Students of M.C.S.

2016-12-clara-news-christmas-edition-front-cover-800What a wonderfully colourful special edition of “Clara News” has been marvellously coordinated by Transition Year Students of Millstreet Community School just in time for Christmas.  Millstreet Museum is glad to have been associated to a small degree in providing a selection of photographs from our Museum Pictorial Archive of both 1996 and 2016 as well as providing the covers of the very first “Clara News ” of 1977  and the last edition of the very popular publication in 2012.  Every success with this special edition which is now available at one euro in a number of local outlets.  (S.R.)

Theatre: Circus Pantomonium

Featuring a chorus of over 70 local children as well as the traditional soloists and adult chorus, we are delighted to announce the return of Panto legends Nonie & Donie, a comedic duo without compare. This event is a real Community effort as a cast, chorus, crew and production team of over 100 local people are taking part! Brighten up your Women’s Christmas and New Year with a Circus full of laughter, song and cheer which is suitable for all ages!
