Eily’s Report – 4th October

eily-report-small-imageDia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to my weekly report.

My apologies for not being with you last week. I was among some members of our Community Singers who joined up with our counterparts from Castlemagner who went on a four day trip to Donegal. Staying at Brian McNiffs great Northern Hotel in Bundoren, where we received the royal treatment during our stay.

We were bussed around the county to famous places like the Glen of Colm Cille and The Glenties and lots lots more. And following a grand evening dinner, we danced the nights away . In a true Active Retired Peoples style.

Returning to Millstreet soon made us forget any regrets that we may have had about the trip being over. Millstreet is a truly remarkable place . You feel the buzz right away,In the few days while we were away, there was the news that our Tidy Towns Committee had gained 6 points in the National finals plus a bronze medal. Add this to their all out success in the County Council Anti Litter Campain.

Then there was the great news that Jerry Pat and all at O Leary Family Butchers had scooped a further Gold at the Blas na hEireann finals with their Mushera Venisen Burgers.

Our Super Valu Store has received a whole new facelift with notices up to say that Chef Supreme Kevin Dundun is due there this Thursday  October 7th, from 3-5pm  to give an in store demonstration of his cooking expertise.

Next day Friday October 8th. All are invited there for a family fun day, face painting for the little ones plus food tasting for all , and great prizes to be won.

Even our little Grotto on the Macroom Rd. got a face lift in spite of the weather.
