Eily’s Report – 14th June

eily1

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to my weekly report.

Our  Summer has taken a little  break. But the broken spell does give way for some outdoor events to go ahead. The thunderous cloudburst on Thursday evening last gave way to a reasonably dry hour, just long enough for the annual Mass to be held at St.Mary’s Cemetery. A fine crowd braved the elements and they were rewarded for their bravery. Five priests concelebrated the Mass, led by Canon John FitzGerald, and assisted by Frs. Paddy O Byrne, Sean Tucker, Dan O Riordan, Con Kiely.

Canon John thanked all those who helped in any way to prepare the cemetery for the annual Mass. Very soon after the ceremony had ended the rain resumed again.

The graveyard looked lovely and clean and trimmed for the occasion and there were notices  up by the Co. Council asking people to refrain from littering the place from now on. Please pay attention to their notices.

Cullen Feis was held in pleasant weather on Sunday, it was very attended, and well run, thanks to the help of their local community.

Out door Mass will be held at Drishane Cemetry to-night. (Tues) starting at 7.30. We hope the weather will be kind.

House in Cullen broken into

Yesterday a house in Cullen was broken into, during the daytime. The family came home from work to it, and they are obviously very upset by the whole thing. Money and personal belongings were taken.

Please be vigilant. Anything suspicious to report to the Guards (Millstreet Gardaí: 029-70002). I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Please spread the word.

with thanks to Geraldine for sending this to us
