Meeting the Great Muhammad Ali in the 1970s

When in the 1970s I was visiting relatives in Surrey I went to visit the headquarters of the BBC and just happened to be at the Reception Desk when I became aware of an exciting group of people entering the front door of the famous building. I couldn't believe it when I became aware that it was the great Muhammad Ali with his entourage and supporters arriving to participate in a television interview. I so regretted not having had a camera with me on such an historic occasion but the memory is so precious. We offer our sincere sympathy to all of his family, friends and fans on the sad departure of this truly great and charismatic gentleman and sportsman to his Eternal Reward. (S.R.)

Volunteers Sought for Kite Fest at Millstreet Country Park on 19th June

It is a great way to give some of a person’s time to a fantastic charity (Breakthrough Cancer Research) and Joanie the Organiser would be so grateful.  It is just for a couple of hours from 12 – 5 pm and volunteers will receive lunch vouchers and comp light refreshments on the day. If anyone is interested they can contact the Millstreet Country Park on 029 70810 or catch Gráinne on 086 6000822.  (S.R.)
