Many people are without Internet and WiFi since the weekend and the dreadful weather on Sunday did nothing to ease the situation. Countless events and fixtures had to deferred or cancelled leading to a lot of disappointment.
But a few die-hards did succeed in sticking to their program. A 1916 Memorial Commeration event went ahead in Millstreet on Sunday as planned. Starting with Mass in our parish church at 2.30 pm. Our Community Singers, took part, with solos sung As Gaelige by Diarmuid Kelleher and Kathleen Philpot .
In torrential rain and high winds the parade then proceeded through the town and following a brief stop at the Monument the followers retired to the function room at the Wallis Arms Hotel where they continued with their planned program.
