Remembering Legendary Film Star, Maureen O’Hara & Her Connection with Millstreet Including Her Admiration for Turbrid Holy Well

0025-Maureen-OHara-20110092-Maureen-OHara-20111-150x150The interview we recorded in 2011 features on LTV2 Programme 211.  Hugely popular Film Star, the Legendary Maureen O’Hara holds a framed picture of Turbrid Holy Well with which she was presented by Seán Radley, Ita & William Fitzgerald following a fascinating brief interview with LTV2 at Glengarriff Golf Club on Sunday night, 26th June 2011.  We referred very especially to Maureen’s starring role in “The Quiet Man” with John Wayne in 1951. We believe that Maureen once visited a pharmacy in Millstreet as she was en route most likely to Killarney. We extend our sincere sympathy to the Family of the late great Maureen O’Hara who has gone to her Eternal Reward at the age of 95.  She died peacefully in the presence of her Family in America and it’s reported that the music of “The Quiet Man” played gently in the background.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam uasal. Here we recall our meeting with the wonderfully friendly Maureen in 2011.

Millstreet Community School Senior Soccer Team

Congratulations to Millstreet Community School Senior Soccer Team on their win against St. Patrick’s, Castleisland in the John Murphy Cup on Friday 23rd October in the Town Park.  The final score was 4-0, with goals from Thomas Walsh, Billy Cronin, Patrick Dineen and Mark Dennehy.  It was a great team performance in difficult conditions.  Next match after mid-term is away to Castleisland Community College.

Reach Out Cancer Support Group’s Annual Mass on Fri. 30th Oct. at 7.30pm

Millstreet R.O.C.S.
