Food Collection for Cork Penny Dinners

Update 10th Nov: Aida has been in contact with us to tell us that another collection box is in place in Guys & Dolls Hair Salon. Thanks to Mary Murphy, proprietor for her support.

My name is Anna Costello. I live in Millstreet and volunteer in Cork Penny Dinners every week. Cork Penny Dinners is a fantastic service that currently provides over 1000 meals per week and relies completely on donations.

I am doing a food collection in aid of Cork Penny Dinners. I would really appreciate if anyone would like to donate by putting any of the food items below in the boxes provided in Coleman’s Centra and SuperValu.

Many thanks to Mary & John Coleman and the staff of Coleman’s Centra and to Joe Fitzgerald and the staff of SuperValu for facilitating this collection. Any local businesses wishing to donate or get involved can contact 087 6886725. Thanks for your support!

Itmes Needed: Tinned Foods, Orange Squash, Easi-singles Cheese, Sugar, Coffee, Tea, Biscuits, Salt, Tea Towels

Town Park Grant for Outdoor Gym

Millstreet Town Park received €7,500 from the Cork County Council Community Fund, towards their new outdoor fitness equipment. The note below is from Cllr John Paul O’Shea:

Over €75,000 was allocated to communities across the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Area this week as part of Cork County Council’s Community Fund. The fund was established to support community and voluntary groups who wish to undertake capital development projects in their respective villages and towns.

Welcoming the allocations, Chairman of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District, Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea (Ind) said “The commitment of Cork County Council to allocate monies to these deserving projects is indeed a very welcome announcement for community groups within the Kanturk and Mallow areas. This funding will undoubtedly benefit the many community and voluntary organisations who have worked extremely hard in recent months planning for such developments in their respective communities and I look forward to seeing the fruits of their labour becoming a reality during the coming months”.
