Presentation to Kathleen & Geff in Cullen

We thank Sheila Fitzgerald for the excellent photograph and the following caption:  Cullen and District Special Needs Association honoured it's two founder members last Monday night with a get together at the local Community Hall. The event was organised to mark the couple's 50th Wedding Anniversary, and their fellow members presented them with a commemorative plaque and a decorative anniversary cake Kathleen and Geff O Sullivan established the Special Needs Association 35 years ago and in the initial years held fundraising Vintage Shows at their own home. This event was relocated to the local Sports Grounds in later years and the subsequently named annual Harvest Day has always been a great success for the Club while the Weigh In during the Winter/Spring months is one of their major fundraisers. Secretary Moira O Keeffe told the Corkman that Kathleen and Geff  were "outstanding" and worked extremely hard at every event throughout the 35 years. "We only had to ring and ask for anything and it was done" Moira said, and this was indorsed by all those present. Monies raised by the Association go to Cope Kanturk, Mallow, and Cork, St. Joseph's Foundation, Charleville, Tearman Lodge, Rathmore, and The Monastery, Killarney."

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1236 from Millstreet.Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the best on this lovely calm, balmy, Autumn Tuesday morning, after some light rain.

There’s a three day horse Cross Country event at Drishane this weekend starting this Friday. Admission free.

The organisers are busy behind the scenes getting ready to host the mighty Cork 20 international Car Rally which will be held from October 3-5th.

The route will be different from the last time, and details will be made known well in advance. Meanwhile down at the Green Glens which will be the nerve centre of this wonderful event, there will be something for everybody , Just the place for little boys from one to a ninety one to join in the excitement of it all, in comfortable surroundings.

So be ready to enjoy the Cork 20 International, to the full from wherever you are on those days. October 3-5.
