April being Environmental Awareness Month 2013 a most interesting illustrated talk was given by Guest Speaker, Denise O’Meara introduced by Dr. Fran Igoe at IRD Duhallow, Newmarket tonight.   Also launched was Kieran Murphy’s very impressive Otter Road Sign.  Kieran (middle of front row behind sign) from Millstreet is a member of the Life Team – the Environmental Section of IRD Duhallow.   Click on images to enlarge.   (S.R.)

“Radio Treasures” on CMS This Evening from 5.30 to 6.30

“Radio Treasures”  on Cork Music Station www.corkmusicstation.com  this week is being broadcast earlier for just one hour this particular week this Tuesday, 9th April 2013 from 5.30  Tonight’s programme includes a brief feature on the interesting and oftentimes witty signs seen throughout Ireland.  Our featured artist this week is Connie Francis.    (S.R.)

Cyclist and Athlete Patrick from Drimoleague Achieves Amazing Feat

This is the tremendously fit 49 year old Patrick O'Brien from Drimoleague pictured here with (from left) Sheila Lucey and Mary P. O'Leary of Carriganima.   Patrick cycled over 44 miles from near Drimoleague in West Cork to Millstreet to participate in the annual Clara Hill Run which took place on Sunday evening at 7pm.  Having successfully running the challenging race in such inclement weather conditions he set out on his return journey to Drimoleague following refreshments and prize-giving in Millstreet G.A.A. Community Hall.  What a truly amazing feat by the superbly fit cyclist and athlete.   (S.R.)
