Two Superb Pictures from Fr. James McSweeney

First snow of winter up on Mushera (Butter Road) looking down across Millstreet and Duhallow I took the picture earlier this morning. We thank Fr. James for this wonderfully atmospheric picture. (S.R.)
Gerard McSweeney (Tooreenbawn) who got married recently to Karen White (Clondrohid) in St.Colman’s Church Macroom. Picture was taken next to Bealick Mill, Macroom. Gerard is of course Fr. Stained Glass Angels

The above photo is from Fr James McSweeney’s website 2u.ie. It is a close-up of  a small part of the “Adoration of the Magi” stained glass window in St.Patrick’s Church Millstreet. It is by Ireland’s most famous Stained Glass Window maker – Harry Clarke. The colour and detail are fantastic when you realise what you see above is only a small corner of the full window [see a photo of the full window below]. Fr James has a thought for every day and today it is about the Saints:

Today is All Saints Day and it always falls on November 1st, to coincide with Halloween. As Halloween has pagan roots, an attempt was made to make spiritual all the events that surround it. Very Impressive Cheque Presentation by Bina, Ciara & Kevin to A.C.T.

A superb €2,510.00 cheque presentation – the result of the DVD launch entitled “Country Roads with Bina & Kevin” at the Killarney Heights Hotel earlier this year – was made this evening at the Wallis Arms Hotel, Millstreet to Pat McCarthy, Chairperson of Aid Cancer Treatment (A.C.T.) by Ciara & Bina Guerin and Kevin Lynch.   Pictured from left:  Ciara & Bina Guerin, Pat McCarthy and Kevin Lynch.   Sincere congratulations to All on such a magnificent and generous result.    (S.R.)

Trick or Treaters

Last night once darkness fell we were visited upon by the weird and wonderfully, as children dressed up for the annual tradition of Halloween trick or treating, all in good spirits and enjoying the evening. Above are photos of just a few of our visitors, of which we had close on a hundred callers on the night! But god help the children and the adults minding them as it was bitterly cold with a few showers thrown in for good measure … as one said that she was “only a step away from frostbite”.
