Help find Higgins

Family pet ‘Higgins’ went missing this morning from his home in Drishanebeg, and he hasn’t been seen since. The neighbours have been checked but no luck finding him yet 🙁

To make matters worse he’s only being minded for the week and his owners are on their way home from the States tomorrow morning (Saturday).

He’s important to them and our hope is that we will locate him before midday tomorrow (Saturday).

He’s a little older and greyer than in the photo (left).

If you can help please contact Pam at ( 086)1721142 / <email>

“STRINGS” Featured on BB1 NI Television This Evening

In a BBC1 NI television documentary this evening (6th July 2012) entitled “The Clipper Homecoming Festival” the local very talented musical group who have recently returned from Derry where both the North Atlantic Fiddle Convention plus the Clipper Festival took place – featured on the excellent television programme.   Here we show a still picture from the programme with renowned Presenter supreme, Gerry Anderson, doing a piece to camera as the group played in the background to the delight of all.  We arranged to record the programme for our Museum archive.  Well done indeed to “STRINGS” on performing in such a highly prestigious programme viewed by millions!   (S.R.)

Update: Thanks to Emer for uploading the clip to youTube which we have added below for you to see: [read more …] ““STRINGS” Featured on BB1 NI Television This Evening”

Discover Duhallow … A Day of the Region

The concept for ‘A Day of the Region’ was first established in 1999 in Germany as an ‘Open Doors Event’ where organisations and communities in rural areas promoted what was in their own community in an effort to educate locals in an informal way about the opportunities and possibilities available to them in their region. Since this the concept has grown substantially with 8 other European Countries taking the initiative to develop it in their own regions.
‘Discover Duhallow… A Day of the Region’ is about capturing the essence of life in Duhallow and encouraging both locals and visitors alike to take part in the wide range of amenities, clubs and activities throughout our region. This 10 day programme will be a celebration of rural community life and will showcase what Duhallow has to offer those living here as well as those visiting the region. Many people who are new to the area and working outside the region are unaware of the wealth of activities and resources available right here on their door step.

Events organised for Millstreet are: [read more …] “Discover Duhallow … A Day of the Region”

Millstreet Methodist Update

Our weekly services continue at 7pm each Sunday evening in the Canon O’Donovan Centre (kindly granted).  However on Sunday 8th July it will be a bit different.  We are going to Drishane Castle where, along with a team of helpers from Killarney and further afield, we will be sharing separate adult and children’s programmes with the residents of Drishane from 4pm.  Then, after a BBQ meal at the Castle, we will have our normal evening service in the main hall of Drishane Castle at 7pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend this event and we are very grateful for the generous facilitation of the management of Drishane Castle in helping to make all this possible.  Even if you have never been to one of our meetings before you will be most welcome to attend what should be an inspirational evening.  Further information from Rev. Laurence Graham at 064 6631613 or <email>
