Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this wet and calm, Tuesday morning.

An Australian Film Crew are making a documentary on the history of the Eurovision Song Contest and as we were one of the hosts, they will be coming to Millstreet this week to do some footage. Niamh Kavanagh will also be here and we hope that they will have both a successful and enjoyable stay.

Sports Ability Day at Banteer

IRD Duhallow in conjunction with Cork Sports Partnership will hold a Sports Ability Day on Saturday 25th September from 10am – 12pm in Banteer Community Centre.  The Sports Ability Day aims to promote Sport & Physical Activity to people with a disability in Duhallow.  On the day IRD Duhallow in conjunction with Cork Sports Partnership will demonstrate the sports available to people with any type of disability.  This event will provide people with the opportunity to try out a wide variety of sports and physical activities.  The Sports Ability Day will be open to everyone including people with a disability, coaches, special needs assistants, parents, youth club leaders, carers, facility managers and anyone with an interest in promoting sport and physical activity for people with a disability.  From this Sports Ability Day, it is hoped to demonstrate that there is a sport out there for everyone to participate in and we would hope to set up some new clubs and make existing clubs within the Duhallow area more inclusive.

The death has occurred on Monday, September 06, 2010 of Sr Gertrude (Dympna) FINN of The Infant Jesus Sisters, Drishane, Millstreet, Cork. At St Joseph’s, Model Farm Road, Cork. Late of Lower Cork Street, Mitchelstown, Malaysia, Weybridge, Surrey and Tralee. Reception Prayers at 7pm this Tuesday evening in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Dennehys Cross. Requiem Mass at 11am tomorrow, Wednesday. Funeral afterwards to Drishane Cemetery, Millstreet.

Death Notice: Denny Walsh

The death has occurred on Monday, September 06, 2010 of Denis (Denny) WALSH of Lackabawn, Millstreet and late of Derragh, Cullen, Cork. Reposing at Tarrant’s Funeral Home, Millstreet. Rosary this Tuesday evening at 9pm. Removal tomorrow, Wednesday, at 8pm to St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 12.30pm, followed by burial in Cullen Cemetery.
