A bad end to their Coffs Coast Rally on Stage 6 as they crash out with a thud (after 15 minutes). The stage seemed a battle from the very start, with a few close calls along the way.
below is a view of the crash from a spectator.

The Rallyschool.com.au Irish duo of Charlie Drake (Derinagree) and Eoin Moynihan (Ballydaly) are counting down the days until the next round of the Australian Rally Championship gets under way in Coffs Harbour on the 14th – 16th May. The pair are fired up after recording their best ever result in a NSW State Championship round, the Lithgow event, where they finished third overall.
“We were really happy with the result in Lithgow and to finish third overall was a great boost for our confidence. We were seeded car 16 so to have a joint fastest stage time and be consistently in the top three was really encouraging, so now we are really looking forward to Coffs,” Charlie said.
Charlie Drake and Eoin Moynihan finished 3rd in the Lithgow Rally two weeks ago in Australia. Below are a some spectator videos, some in-car videos and also some photos from the event:

For those going to the Killarney Rally of the Lakes which will be in Millstreet this Saturday (May 1st), here’s a couple of Billy Coleman videos of in-car footage from the 1986 Circuit of Ireland rally, and also one of Colin McRae on Molls Gap to get you in the mood:
The 2010 Killarney International Rally of the Lakes is on in a few weeks (April 30th to May 2nd). On the Saturday there will be three stages in and around Millstreet, with a centralised service in Millstreet too.
The Saturday Stages will be 3 special stages ran twice and 1 evening special stage ran once with centralized service in Millstreet. Day 2 Sunday, the stages are 3 special stages ran twice service on Sunday is in Milltown and the rally will finish with one final stage, before the winners are announced at the finish ramp at the Gleneagle Hotel.
Not too many locals competing in the rally this year, probably because of the excessive entry price of €850. Only three sort of locals in the race:
#53 Brendan Dennehy (‘S’ signs)
#9 Alan Ring (munster joinery)
#52 Stephen Linehan (bio-tech)
Timetables and maps are available in local shops along and near the routefor €10. The closest to Millstreet are: Guerins Ballydaly, Dennehy’s Shop, Coleman’s, Anglands (Dromagh). Service in Millstreet is due to start at 12:30pm Saturday, and will probably last 3+ hours, from the first in to the last out.

Billy Coleman was Irelands most successful rally driver ever. He first came to province in 1969 in rather tatty self-prepared green Mark I Escort (TIU 250) on the Circuit of Ireland when he took special stage time off the works Escort of Rodger Clark which was almost unheard of at the time. Billy was born in 1948 in Millstreet. From an early age he developed an interest in motor cars, confessing for the bug when he sat up on his fathers knee to drive the car when he was five years old. His father owned a garage in Milstreet and was the Ford Main Dealer which helped nurture Billy’s interest in cars.
A DVD on Billy’s exploits in the Irish Tarmac Championship is available to buy from Murray Motorsport amongst others.
Also added below are loads photos of the cars that he drove.
Check out the off road ‘moment’ at 5:30 in the above video! – “I was thankful that the tyres found some grip and just barely pulled the car away from the rock bank”
Charlie Drake and Eoin Moynihan took Premier League honours in last weekend’s Rally Tasmania. Here’s Charlie’s report on the weekend…..
We had a really good weekend in Tassie and are happy we got the premier league points which was the aim for the weekend.
It was a last minute decision to do Rally Tasmania but I had never been there and I’d always wanted to try a tarmac rally so on the day the entries closed I rang Dasher(Darren Williams) and asked him could the car be repaired from the off in Batemans Bay last year? I got my answer quickly and it was a BIG NO…. but a miracle happened and the boys made the impossible possible. We were three hours late for scrunity – that’s how last minute the final car assembly was…….
In car footage of Charlie Drake and Eoin Moynihan from Rally Tasmania 2010 last weekend where they finished 7th in the Australian Rally Championship section
Charlie Drake and Eoin Moynihan are back on the road again in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII, this time at Rally Tasmania which is part of the Australian Rally Championship.
The race is on this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We wish them well, and will following their progress here.
- 10th after day 1 (2 stages), 1 min 22 seconds off the leader
- 7th after day 2: 6 mins 7 seconds behind leader, but they are running faster than those around them, and now only 2 seconds behind 6th
- 7th after day three (end of rally)
