She almost didn’t come to the third day of the Leopardstown winter racing festival, but Gillian’s last minute decision to go ahead with her original plan to wear a Donegal tweed two piece she designed herself turned out to be a triumph in the keenly contested Cliff At Lyons Style Stakes.
Her peplum tweed jacket and longline skirt was accessorised with a Marc Millinery hat with pheasant feather, white shirt with jabot, cream patent Amy Huberman heels and vintage gloves and bag. The outfit was made by a polish dressmaker near her home and the family’s love of the hunting ‘n fishing county look was clear when they are jubilantly joined mum in the parade ring. Hi all, I would like to thank you for your hospitality during the MGA World Championships. The atmosphere at the opening ceremony was fantastic. The shop keepers dressing their windows was truly amazing. The time you took to decorate the streets all encompassed on making us as visitors very welcome and it will be one of my greatest cherished memories. Thank you once again to all the good people of Millstreet, best wishes, Alison Davies, Swansea.

This week in Green Glens: Millstreet Horse Show is Ireland’s largest annual equestrian event and the only CSI*** to be held here, and has become Ireland’s largest shop window for the Equestrian Industry and young horse classes feature strongly; including the renowned Young Irelander loose jumping for 3 year old horses and the National Discovery for 4 year olds.The show features classes that cater for all age levels and grades with a full range of National classes as well as the final of the Coolmore Young Champion of Ireland series. The best Junior Showjumpers in Europe have been in Millstreet for the last week, and the standard of jumping was very high. It’s been a great week. We now wish them all a safe trip home. Below is a small section of the videos and photos from the Championships.

We welcome all the visitors from twenty nine countries around Europe for this week’s FEI European Junior Championships in Millstreet. A fantastic week of Show Jumping is in store.
And … don’t forget the Parade of Nations at 6:30pm this evening through the town, with the opening ceremony in Green Glens, and entertainment by Liam O’Connor.

The Mounted Games World Team Championships will be held at the Green Glens Arena, Co Cork from July 11th-15th
The Mounted Games Association of Ireland (MGAI) will host the prestigious 30th annual Mounted Games World Team Championships (WTC) for 2016 in the Milstreet Green Glens Arena, Co Cork from July 11th-15th.
Mounted Games is a branch of equestrian sport in which 31 different games are played by people of all ages, on ponies up to a height of 15hh. The Games are a true test of horsemanship, skill and speed. Mounted Games is exhilarating to watch and is a spectacle at many top international shows including the Royal Windsor Horse Show, Horse of The Year Show (HOYS) and the Dublin Horse Show at the RDS.

Millstreet International Horse Show is upon us again and gets underway this Tuesday morning, and continues on until Sunday evening. The weather looks like being very nice for the week, so hopefully all the visitors to Millstreet will have a great week (us locals should go and enjoy it too as it’s free for all 🙂 )

Wall to wall sunshine this Bank Holiday Easter Monday for the first of the Eventing Ireland one day events – Cross Country gets underway in Drishane Castle from 1pm! The Welcome tour is on from April 2nd to 12th, taking a break tomorrow April 7th. Full details on millstreethorseshow.ie with updates and more on their facebook page.

Congratulations to Neil O’Connor who has been announced as a judge for the 2015 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Finals which are to be held in Las Vegas from the 15th to the 19th of April next year.
Neil O’Connor (USA) is a USEF and FEI 3* Judge and Steward and officiates regularly at national and international shows. He has served as President or Member of the Ground Jury at many prestigious U.S. shows such as the Hampton Classic, Pennsylvania National, Winter Equestrian Festival, Washington International, National Horse Show, and the inaugural 2014 Central Park Horse Show. Internationally, O’Connor has officiated at Spruce Meadows and the Royal Winter Fair, both in Canada. A native of (West End) Millstreet, County Cork Ireland, O’Connor now resides in the U.S., and ironically he was the Foreign Judge at the 2014 Dublin Horse Show. – from the Chronicle of the Horse.

There’s around 3,000 entries for this weekend’s Owners Pony and Young Riders Charity Show, in the Green Glens, Millstreet. The event has been a major attraction since it was launched 28 years ago (16th year in Millstreet), and this year is nothing different. Entry as ever is free, and the organisers are looking forward to seeing as many friends of the show as possible, both new & old.

This is Millstreet International Horse Show week and it starts today (Tuesday 12th) at 10:30am. Horse Trucks and Horseboxes have been rolling into the Green Glens since the gates opened yesterday morning.
We’d like to welcome everyone that comes to Millstreet this week, and hope you have a great time. There’s a record number of entries this year and schedules have been changing at this late stage to reflect this.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate. There’s a few showers forecast every day, but nothing too serious.
A visit to the Millstreet Horse Show is unmissable for the equestrian fanatic. Enjoy a day out watching the country’s best horses and riders. Admission is FREE and there is ample car parking available.
