An open invitation from Macroom Toastmasters.

A new member of Macroom Toastmasters from Millstreet suggested we make use of the great resource that is Millstreet.ie to get the word out there on what we can offer the public. There is a widespread perception that Toastmaster’s is at best all about windbags droning on for hours, and at worst, it involves all sorts of outdated rituals. Neither are true.

Toastmasters is all about helping people to overcome their fear of public speaking, and to help people with their communication skills generally. Examples of where Macroom Toastmasters have helped out some members in the past include:

Celebrating Easter in Style – All Ready for the Easter Parade!

Some truly magnificent Easter Bonnets featured in this year's Easter Bonnet Fashion Show at Presentation N.S., Millstreet.

Put On Your Easter Bonnet!

A wonderfully colourful Easter Bonnet Fashion Show took place at Presentation N.S., Millstreet before the Easter Holidays. We are presently preparing a full feature on this exquisite annual event....so lots more pictures to follow shortly. And Millstreet will of course witness its annual Easter Parade to the Monument in the Square on this Sunday after 11.30 a.m. Mass where a very interesting address will be delivered remembering those who helped to achieve independence for Ireland.

Splendidly Successful Fashion Show at Millstreet Community School

A very successful Fashion Show was held at Millstreet Community School on Thursday, 7th April 2011. Within the next few days we shall share a selection of images we captured at the wonderfully enjoyable event where three very worthy organisations will benefit from the funds collected. The Fashion Show event is held once in every two years.

Kilcorney N.S.  has just recently set up a website. It is currently been developed by the staff and pupils of the school. The website will hopefully encourage the local people of the area, and of neighboring towns and villages, to keep in touch with the school and the work of its students. Young People Inspire at Cullen National Spring Clean 2011

Pupils of Cullen N.S. with Teachers, Parents and Friends participating in the National Spring Clean in Cullen on Friday, 1st April 2011 - setting a truly inspiring example of civic pride in our own community.

Sacrament of Confirmation Administered in Millstreet on Tuesday

Millstreet Community School Transition Year Students present a Spring-Summer Fashion Show on Thursday 7th April at 8.00p.m. (sharp) in the School’s Sports Hall.  Proceeds to:

Inspirational Address by George Hook at “Living Scenes” in Millstreet Community School

Women’s Dressmaking Group

The Employment and Training Working Group is proposing to develop a Women’s Dressmaking Group with the aim that participants will enjoy the sense of achievement in creating a tailored garment for their own personal body shape. Introductory demonstrations will be given. Step by Step guidance will be provided on the pattern, fabric, cutting, sewing, fitting and finishing and each participant will create an A-line skirt from commencement to finish. Names are now being sought from the public to determine interest in such a training course. If you are interested or would like more information please contact Mary McHugh at 029 60633.

Munster Schools Cross Championships

Cathal Crowley, Paul O’Connor, Billy Cronin, Oisin Murphy, Kashif Admad, Muireann Murphy, Aideen Buckley, and Ellie Dineen who have been competing for Millstreet Community School in the Munster Cross Country Championships recently.

The junior boys cross country team were bronze medalists at the recent south munster schools cross country championships and finished sixth overall in the munster championships held in the CIT grounds on Thursday 17th February. [read more …] “Munster Schools Cross Championships”

Cookery, Style & Image Courses

A Four Night Cookery Course is being offered in Millstreet Community School commencing with an introductory Night on Thursday, February 10th at 8.00 p.m. The cost is €80 and a minimum of twenty people are required. This is being run by well known chef, Frank Moynihan. Please telephone the School for details 029-70087.
