New Nano Nagle Wing Blessed Today at Presentation N.S., Millstreet

The new Nano Nagle Wing was today blessed by Bishop Bill Murphy at a very special ceremony in Presentation N.S., Millstreet. Following the concelebration of Mass in St. Patrick's Church the blessing took place followed by the planting of a symbolic tree. Lots more pictures of the truly historic event to follow in time.

Millstreet Methodist Update June 2011

In the Methodist Church June is always marked by the Annual National Conference of our Church.  This Conference is the main governing body of our Church and is the final authority in any decisions that we make as a Church.  It is carefully constituted of exactly half lay people and half ordained ministers.  It is presided over by the President of the Church who is a minister and the Lay Leader who is (obviously!) a lay person.  Every Methodist Church in Ireland is represented at the Conference and any Church or in fact even any individual member can bring a motion to the Conference.  In this way the Church seeks to involve everyone in its governance.  This is an important principal of Methodism. Please pray that God would guide all our deliberations and decisions. [read more …] “Millstreet Methodist Update June 2011”

Cork City Walkers Visit Millstreet and Thoroughly Enjoy Clara Walk

Alerted by the recent "Irish Times" feature on the Clara Walk these wonderfully energetic members of a Cork City Walking Group (many of whom are members of a Cork Tennis Club) enjoyed not only a superb walk this evening (Sunday, 29th May 2011) but also a splendid picnic upon Clara Mountain. Meeting with the very fit Group at Mount Leader, LTV2's Brendan Murphy (on video camera) and I arranged to interview the sincerely friendly and very cheerful people for the Autumn Schedule of LTV2. They accorded much praise regarding the excellent Clara walkway. It's wonderfully uplifting noting the visit of such interesting people to our area who promote the advantages of such healthy outdoor pursuits. (Picture by Seán Radley for website and LTV2)

An open invitation from Macroom Toastmasters.

A new member of Macroom Toastmasters from Millstreet suggested we make use of the great resource that is Millstreet.ie to get the word out there on what we can offer the public. There is a widespread perception that Toastmaster’s is at best all about windbags droning on for hours, and at worst, it involves all sorts of outdated rituals. Neither are true.

Toastmasters is all about helping people to overcome their fear of public speaking, and to help people with their communication skills generally. Examples of where Macroom Toastmasters have helped out some members in the past include:

Mass from “The City” at Shrone on LTV this Sunday Evening

Weather permitting,  Dan Joe Kelleher and I will record the 2.00 p.m. Mass scheduled to be celebrated at “The City” in Shrone on this Sunday, 1st May 2011.   It will then be transmitted on LTV at 5.30 p.m. on Sunday…the very same evening thanks to Dan Joe’s dedication to Local Television.   The transmission will then be followed by a repeat of this week’s LTV1 and LTV2 programmes bringing us to the very end of this season’s LTV broadcasts.    We thank you for being such loyal Viewers and wish you all a very Happy Summer and look forward to a new LTV season in the Autumn.   (S.R.)
