Rose of Tralee 2011 to Feature on LTV2 Millstreet this Thursday

Rose of Tralee at Rathmore Food Fair 2011 — Brendan Murphy with video camera at Rathmore Food Fair on Sunday. Included in our LTV2 transmission this Thursday is an interview with Rose of Tralee, Tara Talbot and also with Michael Healy-Rea, T.D. and Mairéad Kelly who is holding the All-Ireland Cup won by Cork Ladies Football Team at Croke Park in September 2011 . Also included in our picture here is the main coordinator of the Food Fair - Michael O'Mahony. (S.R.)

Collecting ink cartridges and old mobiles for charity

Millstreet Community School are collecting used ink cartridges (from all types of printers) and old mobile phones for charity at the school. If anybody has any of the above, they can be dropped into the Community School. All funds raised are for the cancer appeal in the Mercy Hospital.

Programme 193 LTV2 Millstreet – Extra Information

Programmes 193, 194 and 195 will appear shortly on our website. Programme 196 will be broadcast this Thursday night at 10.00 p.m. and will be repeated on Thursday, 5th January 2012 (not repeated on this Sunday which is Christmas Day). LTV2 Millstreet will have five special half-hour programmes on Christmas Day – 7 to 8 pm; 10 – 11 pm and 11.30 to midnight.
Prog. 193 will be on website this evening while Prog. 194 may be viewed on Thursday and Prog. 195 on Saturday – Many thanks to Michael for arranging the upload of these programmes and to Bernard for his coordination of our LTV2 programmes on the Internet. There is now an increasing number of people viewing the various programmes on the LTV2 and Millstreet websites in many countries worldwide. We would be very interesting to hear from such international viewers as to where you may be seeing the programmes. Millstreet Traders Winners 2011 — At a presentation to the prizewinners in the Millstreet Traders Week promotion were Tony McCaul, Chairman Millstreet Development Group; runner up Tessie Dennehy, Derinagree (who won €25 vouchers for 22 shops in Millstreet); Jerry Pat O'Leary, Chairman, Millstreet Retail Group; outright winner Donal O'Sullivan, Kilcorney (who won €50 vouchers for 22 shops in Millstreet) and Billy Sheahan, Wallis Arms Hotel. Methodist Update – November ’11

Meetings for worship, prayer and Bible study continue to be organized by the Methodist Church in Millstreet. We now meet every Sunday at 7pm in the Canon O’Donovan Centre (kindly granted) on Clara Road in Millstreet.

Last week we were reading together some inspiring verses from 1 Peter 1:3-4 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth in to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and in to an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade… kept in heaven for you …”

Macra Novice Debating – County Semi-Final

Millstreet Macra’s Novice debating team defeated strong opposition from Donoughmore Macra in last weekend’s Cork County Novice Debating Semi-Final in Bandon.

They will now take part in the Final versus Bantry Macra na Feirme. The Final takes place in Ballinagree N.S. on Saturday, the 3rd December at 8.00 pm. All support would be greatly appreciated!

Eucharistic Congress Bell in Millstreet

The Eucharistic Congress Bell which will be in St.Patricks Church, Millstreet this evening for 7:30 mass and remains there until tomorrow morning, is a symbol of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress. The Bell will reflect the invitation to faith, to prayer, to reconciliation and to mission which has always been important in our Christian tradition and is no less so today. The pilgrimage of the bell throughout the Dioceses of Ireland will be a vehicle to:

– Invite people to deepen their communion with Christ and with one another,

Winners of the Annual Bazaar Raffle

Winners of the Raffle at the Millstreet Annual Bazaar held in the GAA Hall, 20th November were:
1st Prize – 32″ Flatscreen TV – Niall O’Brien

IRD Duhallow will host their annual conference in conjunction with the Duhallow Women’s Forum on Friday 2^nd December, entitled “The Role of Rural Women in a Recession – A Conference in honour of Nora Herlihy – Credit Union Pioneer” Guest Speakers on the day include Orlaith Carmody former RTE Journalist and director of Mediatraining.ie, Nicole Byrne founder of 11890 Ltd. also we will be having representatives from the Credit Union Movement, UCC and IRD Duhallow. In addition and importantly at this event Jimmy Deenihan TD & Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs will launch “The Origins, Ethos and Evolution of Co-operative Credit in Ireland – Celebrating the Centenary of the Birth of Nora Herlihy”
