Here are the winners of the “Design A T-shirt” colouring competition for Bike week from Millstreet Library. Both winners were from Cloghoula National School.

Donnacha Murphy won the 9 – 12 year category.
George Razik (pictured here with his Mum) won the 5 – 8 year category.
Congratulations and well done to all  who entered. The standard was amazing.
The winning entries have been forwarded to Cork where they will be competing against all the other libraries in Cork County for the overall prize of seeing their design on a t-shirt.

Millstreet Library – Cruinniú na nÓg workshop for children aged 9 – 12 years

Millstreet Library – Workshop – Fun with Limericks – Saturday, 10th June 2023
Cork County Council presents Cruinniú na nÓg.  A day of free creativity for young people. 

Write a limerick – Draw a limerick – Sing a limerick is a beginner’s workshop on limericks. This fun workshop will take place at Millstreet Library on Saturday, June 10th, 2023.  It’s all about using your creativity with words. 

This workshop is for kids aged 9 to 12 years and will run from 2 30 pm to 4 00 pm. 

It will be facilitated by Gerard O’Callaghan, with the support of Creative Ireland and Cork County Council.

Free Event – Booking is required.

Bike Week 2023 – Millstreet Library

Cork Bike Week 2023 will take place from Saturday 13th to Sunday 21st May 2023 and is a celebration of all things cycling.

This year we are running a ‘Tour de Cork’ design a t-shirt competition for children.

Sponsored by Cork Sports Partnership each of the winning designs will be printed on a t-shirt, and the t-shirt presented to the winning designer. There will be also be spot prizes for the runners up.

The age categories are ages 5-8 and ages 9-12 and the closing date for entries is Friday the 26th of May.

Entry Forms are also available in the library.

Bike Week – Monday 7 30pm

Millstreet Library – Monday 15th May at 7 30 pm

Experienced Cyclist Ben Murphy from Sliabh Luachra Cycling Club will give a talk on basic bike skills including bike maintenance, road safety and what to wear when cycling.  He will also advise on how to join the Sliabh Luachra Cycling Club and will be able to answer any questions that you may have.

This talk is for all age groups so everybody welcome – Free of Charge – No booking required.

STEAM bookmark competition – Cork County Library & Arts Service

Cork County Library & Arts Service are currently running a STEAM bookmark competition for primary school children.

There will be a €20 book token prize for each design (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths).

The five winning bookmark designs will be also printed as official Cork County Council Library

The Cork County Library STEAM bookmark colouring competition is still running until the end of this week, Friday May 5th.

Please hand in completed entries into your local library.
