“Round the Fireside” Recordings Focus on the Bealtaine Festival 2014…First of Two Recordings Now Being Broadcast on c103 Until 11.00pm

The enthusiastic group of people from Duhallow and beyond who recently participated in two "Round the Fireside" radio programmes with Jimmy Reidy on c103 where the focus was on the forthcoming Bealtaine Festival which is being coordinated by Louise Burke of IRD Duhallow and her dedicated team.   The c103 programmes will be broadcast on Monday, 28th April 2014 and on Monday, 19th May at 9.50 pm.  The recordings took place in Freemount's Heritage Centre.  Click on the image to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Sullane Sessions at the Briery Gap

photo of Oliver Cole and guests The Shaker HymnCurrently running at the Briery Gap, Macroom are the “Sullane Sessions”, a new series of intimate gigs highlighting the best in national and international singer songwriters.

The series kicked off on Saturday 24th May with the enchanting Katie Kim and support from Joan Shelley, and continues on June 13th with Oliver Cole & Guests The Shaker Hymn, 25th July with Daniel Martin Moore & Guests Jackson Dyer & Ghost Town Jenny, and 23rd August with John Blek & The Rats, with further dates to be announced.

Following an extensive renovation programme in 2013, including a state of the art lighting and sound system, new theatre seating and refurbished Theatre Bar, Briery Gap has focused on delivering a broad and diverse programme of events. According to Ann Dunne, Manager of Briery Gap, “The Sullane Sessions series will be a fantastic addition to the theatre and will attract yet another new audience to Briery Gap, further demonstrating our commitment to attracting the best in musical talent”

Bishop Buckley Greets Millstreet Community Singers at Mercy Hospital, Cork Where They Presented a Superb Christmas Programme of Songs & Hymns

Millstreet Community Singers who for the second occasion have performed a splendid selection of songs at the Mercy Hospital, Cork were thrilled to be greeted by Bishop Buckley who was in great admiration of their wonderful Christmas programme of songs and hymns.   Great credit is due to coordinator Marie Twomey for having directed the very talented Group for the past three years and for arranging engagements such as this very special performance at the Mercy Hospital.
