Charity Play a runaway success – Thank you Note

We are absolutely delighted to announce that The Glen Theatre Drama Group’s production of John B. Keane’s play, “The Rain at the End of the Summer”, held at the Glen Theatre last Sunday night (11th) was a resounding success.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of The Glen Theatre Drama Group, all proceeds from tickets sales were donated to Rathcoole NS Parents of Children with Additional Needs Support Group.  Director Tadgh O’Keeffe kindly presented Colette O’Keeffe & Maria Buckley with a cheque for €1000.00.

These funds will be dedicated to purchasing essential equipment and resources for all pupils, but in particular the neurodivergent children with additional needs attending Rathcoole National School.

Thank you to everyone who attended the night or donated.  Your kindness makes a huge contribution to the lives of these pupils.

The Glen Theatre Drama Group are bringing this magnificent play to The Everyman Theatre on Thursday 15th August and The Civic Theatre, Dublin on Friday 23rd & Saturday 24th August.

Philip Lenihan commands the stage as patriarch Joss O’Brien whose moral attitude conflicts with his ambitious son, Jamesy, played by Tadhg Curtin, while daughter and soon to be nun Eillie, played by Sinead Guiney tries to keep the peace.  With our own extremely talented vice principal Maureen O’Brien as feisty housekeeper Kate and past pupils Olivia Lehane and Diarmuid Cronin as the newly engaged couple, Penny & Toddy, and Anna Lehane as stagehand, this show is a must see!

Cancer Support Group benefits from Car Run

A pleasant get together in Millstreet Parish Centre availed of the opportunity for Millstreet Vintage Club to present €10,368.73 to Kerry Cancer Support Group, the proceeds raised from a successful Car Run.

The Kerry Cancer Support Group was founded in 2000, the Group’s mission is no one should face their cancer journey alone, the Support Group is devoted to maintaining a warm, welcoming environment

while ensuring that service users have immediate access to their free programmes and resources.

Breeda Dyland, CEO Kerry Connect expressed thanks to Millstreet Vintage Club for helping their cause.

“We receive no state funding, we are a small charity who undertake a big job,  solely dependent on subscriptions and fundraisers to keep us on the road. It all started with a small bus 14 years ago, now we have three full time buses on the road”, said Breeda.

“Once we started, 75% of those diagnosed from the Region have utilized the bus. During 2023, we transported 4,500 people to appointments, translating that to car journeys, that would clog up roads and importantly, it eases the burden for patients”.

“The Millstreet Vintage Run created an awareness of our existence,  the service is free to users, cracking Cancer together every day is our service, that allows people get to their treatment in a positive frame of mind”, said Breeda.

Co-ordinator Aidan O’Sullivan expressed delight at the huge support for the Millstreet event on supporting a valuable service where so many people utilize the bus service.

“We want to thank everyone who came to the event from both near and far to support the Millstreet club, a big thank you goes to all the  hardworking marshals,  bike marshals, sign on and registration crew, Gardaí, businesses for providing a bucket facility and to everyone who helped out in any way”, said Aidan.

HUGE thanks to everyone that donated to the fundraiser – Ireland’s Fittest Family Superstars

Danny & Gillian O’Riordan & their teammates Brendan & Mark would like to say a HUGE thanks to everyone that donated to their fundraiser – Ireland’s Fittest Family Superstars that took place last weekend in the Meath Eco Park.
The course was gruelling & the heat of the day didn’t help but the Ardfallen team finished in a very respectful 11th place!
They raised the most money from all teams competing & this was mentioned many times throughout the day so again a huge thanks to everyone that donated – it’s all going to an amazing cause – The Irish Hospice Foundation in honour of Danny & Gillian’s aunt Noreen who passed away in July 2022.
Donations are being accepted until June 11th for anyone that would still like to contribute & help get them over the €3,000 mark!

Strong Turnout for the Millstreet Vintage Club Vintage Tractor Run in aid of Millstreet Community Hospital

The first ever Vintage only Tractor Run ran by Millstreet Vintage Club got a great Turnout of 40 Pre 1994 Tractors with a great variety of models taking to the Road on a Scenic Route on Sunday last just after 1pm,the beneficiary of the Event was Millstreet Community Hospital and the Tractors did a drive through the Hospital Grounds at the beginning of the Route with the Hospital Residents sitting out to view the Tractors as they took on a 36km Route in favourable weather conditions.
The Vintage only concept was met with very favourable feedback from everyone who took part in the event and it’s hoped that this type of event can be built up and improved on for the future going forward.
Event Organiser Dan Barry would like to thank the Canon O’Donovan Centre Millstreet for providing the sign on venue and parking along with looking after everyone with Refreshments before they took to the Road and also wishes to thank all the Sign On Crew and the Marshals for keeping the Event running smoothly, also Dan would like to thank the Media and Photographers for there promotion of the Event and finally the John Barry Perpetual Trophy Winner was Tom Linehan in his Ford 4000.

Matthew Healy Memorial – Fund Raising Event

Hi All,

As you may be aware my 6 year old little boy Matthew was murdered on the 9th of February earlier this year.  Matthew was my only child and I am completely heartbroken as a result of his death, however we did have a wonderful 6 years together, for which I will be forever grateful. Matthew was an intelligent, articulate, funny and socially conscious little lad, he was an absolute pleasure to be with, and it was the greatest honor and privilege of my life to have been his dad.

The loss Matthew has suffered is enormous, is absolute, and final, everything has been stolen from him in this life. The only thing I can do for him now in this life is to honor his memory and to bring as much positivity in his name as possible despite all the devastation and destruction. Therefore, to celebrate and honor Matthew we are planning to do a number of things in the future, the first of which is to take place in Watergrasshill village (details below) on the 19th of May to celebrate his birthday, for which he would have turned 7 years old on the previous Friday the 17th of May. We are holding a motorbike and vintage car run with music etc afterwards with all proceeds and donations going to Make A Wish, a charity which reflects Matthew’s fun and adventurous character.
I would appreciate your support with this fundraiser, you can donate via the link below or on the day if you are attending the event, everyone is welcome. I would also appreciate it if you could forward this to your own list of contacts, your support is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
James Healy
