Splendid Carriganima Parade Blessed with Glorious Sunshine Today

Carriganima's Third Annual St.Patrick's Day Parade today was blessed with glorious sunshine as it has been on the two previous occasions.  MC supreme, Seán Murphy gave a brilliant running commentary on the wonderfully colourful parade.   Dan Joe Kelleher and his son Declan recorded for LTV1. St.John’s were promoting the upcoming All Ireland Sheep Shearing and Woolhandling Championships which they are organising and which will be held in the Green Glens on May 25th and 26th.

RTÉ Film Crew at Drishane Cemetery and at the Boeing Crossing on the Blackwater

When the RTÉ film crew visited Millstreet on 13th March we had reached Drishane Cemetery and the Boeing Crossing before lunch.  Here we see Michael O'Sullivan of Dooneen and RTÉ's Evelyn O'Rourke discussing the scenic crossing of this section of the Blackwater.   (S.R.)

Monster MAC Draw Takes Place in Wallis Arms Hotel

The local group which was successful in the Monster MAC Draw last night in the Wallis Arms Hotel was Millstreet Development Group who will now act as the Main Stewarding Group for the highly prestigious event to be held in May and centred at Millstreet Country Park.   They will received the monetary prize for their important participation.  (S.R.)

Competitors from far and wide to compete at sheep shearing event

http://www.insidethegames.biz/images/2012/02/sheep_shearing_contest_08-02-121.jpgCompetitors from New Zealand, England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland will shear 3,000 sheep and entertain 15,000 visitors at this year’s Clik All Ireland and International Sheep Shearing & Wool Handling Championships in Green Glens, Millstreet, Co Cork, on May 25 and 26.

Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney attended the formal launch of the event yesterday. Humphry O’Riordan, the chairman of the organising committee, said they were delighted to be staging the event, last held in Millstreet in 1981.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place in Carriganima at 3pm on Monday, 18th March 2013 led by Millstreet Pipe Band.   This will be followed by music in The Pub by the very popular Jerry McCarthy and “Autumn Gold”.   And at The Pub this Saturday night the music is by the also very popular “Back on Track”.   (S.R.)

Brendan Honoured and “Pope” Arrives at Rathmore Parade 2013

With Michael John Dineen as the superb Grand Marshal at the excellent St. Patrick's Day Parade in Rathmore today Olympic Hero, Brendan O'Sullivan of Rathduane was especially honoured while one of the most popular winners of the Parade Participants was Michael Linehan of Scaraglen who arrived as "the newly elected Pope!"  Cullen and Millstreet Pipe Bands added greatly to the Parade atmosphere.   Despite the inclement weather a large attendance enjoyed the wonderful annual event.  Brendan Murphy and I for LTV2 recorded the proceedings.  (S.R.)

A magnificent production by Banteer Drama Group "Stop it Nurse!" is being enjoyed by capacity audiences at Banteer's Glen Theatre.   Universally praised it is wonderfully hilarious and can still be seen this Sunday night at 8.30. The annual Dromtariffe Seniors Party took place in Dromtariffe Community Centre on Sunday, 17th February 2013 beginning with the celebration of Mass by Fr. Comer during which the service of healing is also administered.   It is followed by the superbly organised three course delicious meal including a choice of drinks. David who was so significant in “breaking the ice” during Northern Ireland’s years of challenge, delivered one of the most inspiring and moving talks ever heard in Millstreet before a wonderfully representative audience of many Christian Faiths.   We have recorded the magnificent address on both audio and video and with the very kind permission of Rev.
