  1. Hi, I’m looking for info on Corcoran ancestors or descendants from the Coolikerane, Millstreet area.
My GG GM, Catherine Corcoran, was born in this area around 1832-1840. Her father may be named William Corcoran, and her two older brothers were Daniel and Simon, who all emigrated to California in the 1850s.
I understand the parish for Millstreet is in Co. Kerry? I searched online parish records, but could not find a promising baptism record. Could the parish have been different in the early 1800s?
    Any help appreciated!
    Kate from Calif.

    1. Hi Kate, yes though Millstreet has always been in County Cork, it has always been in the Kerry Diocese. (The diocese was called the Diocese of Ardfert and Aghadoe before 1952, and Millstreet Parish was previously called Drishane Parish)

Unfortunately, the Catholic Parish records (baptisms & marriage) for Millstreet only go back to about 1855, and the Civil Records (birth, marriage, & death) for Millstreet only go back to 1865. There is really very little available before that.

Your best hope might be to find someone who would know.
