Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1215 from Millstreet.  Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this beautiful sunny Tuesday Morning. The last one in April.

 

Well we’ve been known for lots of big and unusual things here in Millstreet over the years, But this week we’ve clocked up a real cracker. When we got our very own Tornado to settle on Clara Mountain on Sunday
evening. Well done to all those who captured it on camera, and in no time it was making news in places as far away as Australia.

Otherwise we had a very busy week. Well done to St John’s GAA Club on
taking on the running of the mighty Monster Mac when it’s future looked
in doubt. Centred at the Country Park,people came from all over Munster to participate, in harsh weather.

The winner of the Men’sSport section was local man Donal Kelleher ,Aubane
while Rose Rae of Millstreet came second in the ladies Sport section. And the good news is that they’ll do it all again next Year, le conamh De.

 

Our Juvenile GAA Club will host a fun run on Bank Holiday Monday May 5th.
in aid of The Mercy Hospital, in Cork. Starting our from the GAA Hall at 12
noon. There are two routes to choose from. One to the top of Clara Mountain and the second going on the Drishane Loop. Please support them well.

 

Thursday is the first of May, and Summer is bursting out all over. IRD
Duhallow have put together a full program of events to suit all ages and
tastes for the whole month. Their booklet is widely available. Be sure so
that you won’t miss out on anything.

 

You’ll have to be up early on May1st to get to the source of the
Blackwater in Ballydesmond ,for the Dawn Mass at 6.30am.

 

That evening there’s mass at Our Lady’s grotto in

Tureencahil at 8pm.

and on May 2nd Day in Traditional session at Foyle Old School from
8.30 pm.

 

Millstreet is next , on Friday May 2nd. It’s an evening at Drishane
Castle, for a feast of Choral entertainment. Comprising of the Swedish
Christianstad’s Motet Choir. Complemented by the Duhallow Choral Society.
It will indeed be, “Some Enchanted Evening” all happening in the beautiful Church of the Little Flower at Drishane Castle, and will be followed by light
refreshments in the downstairs function hall.

Starts at 7 sharp, Admission €10.

Feile Table Quiz at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Wednesday May 7th at 8pm .

 

The Final program in the present season of LTV2 is on its way to you this
Thursday night at 10pm. But please bear in mind that all our programs can
accessed on UTube on the Millstreet Website and can be viewed any time.

On behalf of the Crew I want to say many thanks to all those who stuck with
us this season when ,things beyond our control kept interfering with the
transmission. Great credit is due to Dan Joe Kelleher who works tirelessly
to keep the show on the road and to Bernard Crowley who puts it on the
Web.

 

Many thanks to all at C103 who treated us all so royally for Joanne’s
18th Birthday last week. Please continue to support your local Radio
station, where they all work so hard to keep us all in touch with local
happenings.

 

Many congratulations to all at Colemans Garage who celebrated 60 years in
business during the week and we wish them continued success in the years
ahead.

 

There’s a Circus in town this week , It opened at the Los Zargus FC pitch
in the Station Rd last evening and continue today at 4.30 and 7.30 pm.

 

Our tidy Towns Committee are gearing up for another challenging season
ahead. Already some ladies from the Cloghoula district have picked all the
rubbish from the roadsides in their area, paving the way for others to
follow suit. The lovely weather is making places look beautiful please
don’t spoil it by throwing rubbish around.

 

The Divine Mystery devotions were held in our church on Sunday afternoon and were very well attended. Canon John reminded the people of the historic moment ,as they were praying, two past popes were being canonised in Rome. A very unusual happening.

 

Our Parish lotto draw was held at the Clara inn on Sunday night. Numbers
drawn were 9, 28, 29, 31 And the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Libby
O Connor, West End. The seller was Patsy Mac. And he got €50 sellers
prize, €50 went to Marie O Sullivan, Dooneen. €20 each to Grace
Dennehy, Rathmore, Eileen Roche Coomlogane, Rosie Linehan, Buttivant,
Geraldiner & Pat Kelleher, Rylane, Annette McSweeney Inchaleagh, Eamon
Sheehan Annabella, Mallow, Aine Collins Laught. Bobby Sheahan, Liscarroll.

Jackpot for next week €10.000, the at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Bank
Holiday Monday night,May 5th.

 

A note from Charlie Drake to say that the AGM of the Dromtarriffe/Kilcorney
Community Alert Group will be held at Dromtarriffe Hall on Thursday May 8th
starting at 9pm. and all are welcome.

 

There’s a Fundraising 45 Drive, in aid of Cystic Fibrosis, at
Ballydesmond on Bank Holiday Monday May 5th,

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in Millstreet Church on Tuesday and
Wednesdays from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm.

 

Sport.

 

Millstreet took runner up place in the Table Quiz at the All Ireland
Senior ScAr finals hosted in Castlebar last weekend.

 

On Sunday next, Millstreet play Knocknagree in the Ducon Cup in Millstreet
at 1pm.
