  1. “Kite flyers and kite fans will be blown away at the exciting line-up for the upcoming Kitefest in Millstreet Country Park, in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research this Sunday, September 22. The event is the brainchild of Fermoy woman, Joanie Hanley who is herself currently recovering from cancer.

    It’s just been announced that the Kites Ireland team will stage a show-stopping kite demonstration as part of the event. The team will exhibit their superb kite flying talents with freestyle, stunt and dual line kites, showcasing sport kite flying, precision kite flying and multiple kiting (piloting two to three kites with between four and six lines simultaneously).

    Kite enthusiast Andrew Beattie will also travel from Scotland to fly his impressive display of huge kites. The breathtaking exhibition includes Manta Ray Kites running 30m from nose to tail, a pack of three tigers pawing the sky and a school of fish swimming through the air. In addition to the demonstrations, there will be lots of family fun at KiteFest, from flying your own kite, to a kite-making workshop, a pipe band, bouncy castle, face painting, colouring competitions and … ”
