Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1181 from Millstreet. Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this lovely balmy autumn morning.Well our town is trying to get back to normal, following the wonderful happening of the past week.It wasn’t easy to keep up with it all.The big thing of course was out International Summer Horse Show which brought competitors from as many a ten foreign countries .

Building up to a massive eight and a half thousand entries. And with a free entry at the gate, the people were able to drop in at any time. Competitions were ongoing in all ten arenas from early morning to late at night. The weather was very suitable, brilliant sunshine and a drop of rain to keep down the dust on the all-weather arenas, And the crowds came to seeand they were not disappointed. In all €180.000 was paid out in prize money. Please look up the website and see for yourself what a spectacular event our Summer International Horse Show was.
Again Many congratulations to the Duggan Family and all their helpers. They can take a well earned bow.

The town and local services did well also and the hard work of our Tidy Town workers did not go unnoticed.
A great crowd gathered at O’Leary’s prizewinning, Family Butchers on Thursday to meet Celebrity Chef. Neven Maguire. He endeared himself to the crowd with his charming manner and of course his succulent quisine. Many people bought his Cookery book which he autographed on the spot.

Not to be outdone Las Zargus Footclub held a highly successful Car Booth Sale at their pitch in Station Rd on Sunday, and made some badly needed funds for their club. And they will do it all again on September 15th So start now and get ready.
The events coming up at the Green Glens will be National Dairy Show and Self Build Exhibition in October as well as the mighty Cork 20 Car Event.
It has been officially announced that €4.1m has been allocated for the upgrading of the Millstreet Waste Water System. Work to start in the near Future. And work is progressing well and according to plan on the Astro Turf at our youth complex in the Town park.
And we want to wish Tadg and Anne O Flynn of Millstreet Medical services every success. They are about to revolusionise their services at Miner Row at the site of the Old Creamery. Tadg gave an indept account of their plans to Patricia on 103 fm and also the current issue of the Corkman.
And our Veterinary Services on the Macroom Rd are also planning to modernise and extend. And good luck to them all.

A Family Tree Mass will be celebrated at Tubrid Well on Saturday August 24th Starting at 2pm. with the Rosary, Mass at 2.30 and Benediction at 3.30.Concluding with Blessings with 1st class relic of Padre Pio.For more details contact 086 196 10 98.

Please let me remind you again of the Grand Tour of all places to do with the Great Moonlighter Sean Riobard O Suillibhan, better known as the Bard. It will be held on Sunday August 25th from 1 to 5 pm. It’s a guided Bus tour calling to Ballinatona, Macroom , Mount Massy, Mushera, Knockilla, Kerrymans Table, Old Kilcorney Cemetry, Admission €10.All Welcome.

And we must congratulate the popular Seanie At the Pub on winning the Batchelor of the year at the Coachford Fest. at the Weekend.

Millstreet were narrowly defeated to Tullylease in the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship quarter final in Banteer on Saturday last.

Millstreet V Boherbue in the North Cork U14 Football Championship in Cullen tomorrow (Wednesday) with a 7pm throw in.

Best of luck to both Michael Vaughan and Kevin Crowley part of a Cork panel contesting the All Ireland Junior Football Championship Final in Limerick on Saturday.
