The AGM of the Lotto Committee will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on this Friday night March 1.

The AGM of our Camogie Club will be held to-night  at the Parish Centre, starting at 8pm.

 This week we send a million congratulations to our brilliant Macra Group on winning the All Ireland Quiz Final in Sligo at the weekend. Team members were Michael Walsh, Dan Creedon, David O Sullivan and Kieran Murphy, Shamrock. Well done to them and all responsible with their great success.

 

And many congratulations to Stephen O Riordan for the great work that he has done for the Magdalene Women. His tremendous efforts have changed their lives dramatically for the better.

Well done Stephen, and all associated with him.

Active retired Association will host a night of ”Interior Design Appreciation” at the Canon O Donovan Centre to-night, starting at 7.30 and all are welcome.

And still with Active Retired, Those wishing to take part in the Active Retired of Ireland poetry Competition may like to be reminded that the closing date is this Thursday February 28th.

The fine weather is having a wonderful effect on the world around us. Controlled burning of mountains provide some spectacular viewing   after dark. And fields are turning green at a great rate allowing farmers to let their cows out to graze. Farmers are also spreading slurry in a race to get the job done before the closing date.

While in the garden, daffodils and other Spring flowers are a sight to lift the heart after the long Winter. So do stop and admire them.

Our annual March Fair is always held on the Sunday nearest the first of the Month. That makes it next Sunday. It never fails to draw the crowds, so don’t miss it.

A note from our Community School to say that IHCPT Irish Pilgrimage Trust will hold a fundraising Table Quiz at the Community School, on this Friday March 1 starting at 7.30 sharp.  Proceeds to help pay for the three 5th year students who are going to Lourdes with IHCPT at Easter.

IRD Duhallow are hosting a very important seminar, covering a wide range of interesting topics at the James O Keeffe Institute to-day. Ring Mary McHugh for details right away, 60633.

Three-Day Horse Show will be held at the Green Glens at the end of March. It’s an extra one that we have this year.

The All-Ireland  Sheep-Shearing Championships will be held there  May  25/26.

70 / 80 disco  in aid of 22qll Syndrome Ireland will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday March 8th. Door Tickets,which are already on sale in local shops, are €10,and will include entry into the draw for some fantastic prizes. See for more details posters.

The First Aid Course at the Pub in Carriganima ended on a high note last Wednesday night with 18 people receiving certificates to prove that they are fully trained in all aspects of how to save lives. They will receive a follow-up course in the months ahead. And already there are people putting their names down for training at a time yet to be decided.

Irish Heart Foundation Church Gate Collection in Millstreet this weekend March 2/3.

And a Church gate collection in aid Cork North/West Branch of MS with be held at Ballydaly on Sunday March 3rd.

Trad Night at the Pub in Carriganima tonight, all musicians welcome.

  A very special concert on Friday 1st March comprises the performance by pianist Mícheál O’Rourke of music by Debussy and Mussorgsky with visual display of relevant art work introduced by Stephen Ackert of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, followed by open discussion between the audience and the artists.

Millstreet won the Co. Trath na Ceist Table Quiz title in Bishopdstown and go forward to the Munster Final next week in Mallow.
Millstreet and St John’s will be represented at the County Senior Scór Finals in Ovens on Saturday night commencing at 7pm.
Also Millstreet are represented in the Duhallow Scor na Paisti Finals in Lismire and Kanturk over the weekend.

Millstreet overcame Kilbrin in the Ducon Cup. Their next outing will be  against Cullen in Millstreet on Sunday at 2pm.
Here are the results of this week’s parish lotto draw which was held at the Mal Passo Bar on Sunday night.

Numbers drawn were  16, 22, 23, 29 and the Jackpot was not won.
