Millstreet Celtic 5 Greenmount 2

22nd September 2012: We beat Greenmount 5-2 in the town park this morning. They started much better and were ahead after just 4 minutes. We settled a bit after that and were back on level terms in the 20th min. Tadhg Collins outmuscled the defender on the end line and his cross was turned into the net by a Greenmount defender with Adrian O Connor waiting to tap in. The game was even enough after that until 10 mins from half time. Greenmount won a penalty which was well saved by Piotr Oziast. We broke straight from the rebound through Brian Murphy and he fed Collins to fire just wide. Greenmount had two more very good chances before the half but Oziast kept them out brilliantly. In the first few mins of the 2nd half Oziast was called in to action again but then we took the lead in the 50th min. Michael Murphy put the ball through for Collins and his shot hit both posts before crossing the line. Greenmount hit back almost immediately but we started to play much better after that. The third goal came in the 60th min when Collins played a lovely reverse pass for Alan Murphy who finished expertly. The game was up and down at this stage but we struck the vital fourth in the 75th min. Eamon O Keeffe’s long ball found Collins clear up the centre and his first time strike crashed to the net. Greenmount had 2 players sent off shortly after and we controlled the rest of the game after that. Murphy got his second of the day when he tucked away the rebound after a Collins shot had been saved to leave the final score 5-2. Best for us on the day were Piotr Oziast, Kevin Linehan and Tadhg Collins.
