Millstreet Tidy Towns Local Awards at Wallis Arms Hotel

Richly deserving recipients of Millstreet Tidy Towns Association’s Local Awards at a special reception earlier tonight (Wednesday, 12th Sept. 2012) in the Wallis Arms Hotel.    International Helpers were presented with prestigious Certificates.   Colman Culhane indicated that Millstreet now rates 11th in Co.Cork which has entries of close to 100.  While receiving a Bronze Medal was much appreciated this year, Colman said that if our town has just two more marks it would have been a Silver Medal!  (S.R.)

Here we share a selection of images from tonight’s reception.   Philip of “Venture One” who was the coordinating Judge commented on the very high standard which he witnessed and on the colourful  variety of the various gardens, town houses and commercial properties.   Very appetising refreshments were served following the presentations.   With such superb local efforts and even greater community involvement next year,  Colman and the Tidy Towns Committee believe that a Silver Medal could well become a reality.   Sincere congratulations to All who do such Trojan work and who make such great strides making Millstreet the very attractive setting it is – admired very especially by first-time visitors to our area.   (S.R.)
