STRINGS Fiddle Concert

A fiddle concert will take place in Drishane Church on Friday 1st. June 2012 at 8.30pm. Muireann Murphy, Alanna Barry, Orla Kiely, Eimear Twomey, Sarah Dennehy, Kelly Murphy, Maura Buckley, Emma Hickey, Darren Kiely, Bridelle Cronin, Daniel O Callaghan and Conor Daly are a group of local students who call themselves “STRINGS” and will treat you to some delightful fiddle music on the night.
The young people who are students at Millstreet Community School convened as a fiddle group last September under the direction of Emer Twomey. They are preparing to take part in an International Youth Fiddle Camp at the North Atlantic Fiddle Convention which is being held in the city of Derry from June 27th – 30th 2012.
The concert promises to be the ideal start to the long weekend !!
Admission is €5 or €10 for a family.All Welcome.
The above photograph was taken in Millstreet church on Saturday last where some of the group preformed at the 1st. Holy Communion Mass. Congratulations to “Strings” on their performance in the church last Saturday,it was brilliant, I loved the last classical piece played by 2 members on the violin and accompanied by the piano.I hope I can make it from Dublin in time for your concert in Drishane in June It is great to see young people involved in music. Is the concert all classical or will there be a mix of traditional ? Best of luck in Derry and hope to hear more from “Strings” in and around Millstreet Town, keep up the great work.Mol
