The whole place is awash with fundraising events, Office parties and children’s  Christmas concerts etc. All helping in their own way to build up
the spirit of Christmas.

And as well as that all the usual voluntary groups continue to run the
countless number of clubs and classes that are the mainstay of our
community throughout the  year. Where would the world be without
volunteering.

And still the drive goes on to make Christmas good I’ve a note here to
say that volunteers and helpers are needed for the New Year’s day swim in
the Blackwater at Dooneen. All proceeds in aid of Multiple Sclerosis.
Sponsorship welcome. Contact Hannelie at O Regan’s Mills.

Our St, Vincent  de Paul society held their annual church gate collect here
at the weekend, It was very well supported, but please be reminded that the
fund is still open and any member of the group will be glad to accept your
donation.

Please continue to shop in your own town, shops and stores cannot survive
without your support. And with the economic situation being what it is some
practical gifts would make more sense this year. Bags of coal, a voucher
for oil, a supply of wood could be just the thing for some of your loved
ones, especially the elderly or those with young families.

We have a wealth of books with local connections in our shops and they too
make ideal Christmas gifts.

itself.
