And it was as if Santa Claus had come to town on Thursday night when a representative from Airtricity shared no less than €110,000 among 27 voluntary bodies, ranging from the church restoration fund in Millstreet to a school in  far away, Clonkeen. Wind farm companies are giving a very positive injection of encouragement and financial support to rural Ireland. Last weeks gesture will be repeated again next year by all accounts and that coupled with the annual allowance given to the people on whose land the Turbines are placed   should give new life to the countryside. And it couldn’t come at a better time.

A full list of all the recipients will be on the Millstreet website in the near future.
