The Lord Mayor’s Cork Volunteer Week will take place from the 6th-12th June 2011. One of the main events taking place during this week is the volunteer fair. Over 150 non-profit organisations will exhibit at the fair in City Hall, Cork. We are encouraging groups to organise events during the week to thank their volunteers or to encourage more people to volunteer with their group. Cork Volunteer Week is sponsored by Cork City Council and Bord Gáis Energy.
Cork Volunteer Fair (10th -12th June 2011)
Over 150 non-profit organisations will exhibit free of charge in the City Hall, Cork on:
* Friday 10th June 2011 from 6 pm to 9 pm
* Saturday 11th June 2011 from 10 am to 4 pm
* Sunday 12th June 2011 from 1 pm to 4 pm.
Seminar
The seminar will take place in the Millennium Hall, Cork during Cork Volunteer Week on Wednesday 8th June 2011. The event will comprise of a set of speakers and workshops on a number of advanced volunteer management topics. It will be aimed at capacity building and up-skilling with the Community and Voluntary sector to support them to effectively engage and manage volunteers. Potential seminar and workshop topics include:
· Volunteers and the law in Ireland (including employment law)
· Human resources and how it might apply to volunteers
· Equal opportunity, diversity and the Equal Status Act
· Data protection
· Garda Vetting
· Effective training of volunteers in your organisation
· Training staff to work with volunteers
· Advertising/recruiting volunteers
