Our Popular Playground Damaged at Millstreet Town Park

Millstreet Town Park Committee has just shared the following:

“We are extremely disappointed and frustrated to see that vandalism has once again occurred in our local playground.

Over the past few days, two large holes have been deliberately dug into the playground surface, on two separate occasions. This was not accidental damage but an intentional act of vandalism.

Not only has this caused significant damage to a valued community facility, but it has also created a serious safety hazard for the many children and families who use the playground every day.

Our playground is a shared community space that is enjoyed by local families, visitors and children of all ages. It is deeply disappointing that the actions of a small number of individuals can have such a negative impact on a facility that exists for everyone to enjoy.

We would ask all members of the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Repairing this damage will come at a cost and takes valuable time and resources away from improving and maintaining the playground for everyone.”

  1. From a follower – “I’m dissapointed to learn about the holes dug in the playground. I recommend Not publicising incidents because I believe the “idiots” involved actually enjoy upsetting people and causing a big fuss. It is more practical to check the area for current cctv coverage and asking residents or businesses to install cameras covering the gaps.”

  2. Looking at the way the pieces are scattered could it have been caused by perhaps a stray dog digging???? I would have thought if it was vandals then they would have caused more damage.

  3. Looks more like heat damage , plus foot traffic over it and vandals wouldn’t waste their time on that.

  4. We had damage like that on our playground surface. It was caused by some kids playing whilst wearing boots with studs on them.
