The Solemnity of St. Peter and Paul
During Pope Francis’s homily for the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul in 2021, Pope Francis reflected on a central point: “Peter and Paul were free because they were set free”. He continued that “the Church looks to these two giants of faith and sees two Apostles who set free the power of the Gospel in our world, only because first they themselves had been set free by their encounter with Christ”. He stressed that they were neither judged nor humiliated by Jesus, who instead “shared their life with affection and closeness”. He does the same with us, said the Pope.
This weekend we pray for Pope Leo, our Bishop and Priests as they continue to spread the word of God in today’s troubled world. May God protect them and give them the strength they need.
